So yeah, Sabres aren't actually that good, and their recent injuries to Sheary, Pominville, and Scandella have removed their badly needed 2nd layer of talent, leaving them with a very very thin team.

We really should win this one. But of course any game in buffalo is a potential trap game.

Looks like it's actually Johnsson demoted to the 4th line, not lindholm.

So anyone hoping Brown would get demoted....lol.

Sabres on the back end of back to back and dealing with injuries. Got to take advantage tonight

Paul Hendrick @HennyTweets
William Nylander’s return to the lineup in the near future will make for a talented and crowded right side. Mike Babcock indicated that Connor Brown could see time on the otherside at least early. A line combination of Kadri between Brown and Nylander initially is possible.

I'm really starting to develop a legitimate dislike of Babcock, reputation be damned. Gifted an otherwordly amount of talent to coach and he has this uncontrollable need to gift time and opportunity to every "hard working" plug on the roster, while making anyone with talent work their bag off just to get a sniff of consistent minutes with other talented players.

If he would try new things once in a while and the hard working plug theory worked the best, okay cool, but he seems to loathe trying to put skill + speed together and when it does and it works, he falls all over himself coming up with reasons why our eyes lied to us and it really doesn't work.

It's pretty simple to me. It's too easy to do the obvious thing and put skill with skill. Babs wants to be the smartest person in the room. So he overthinks basic common sense decisions, effectively intentionally sabotaging the team.

And the giveaway is, like ME said, that he doesn't even dare TRY putting all-skill lines or pairs together. Absolutely, positively, refuses to.

The other giveaway is his earlier comments on Kapanen. That they wanted him to play more like Hyman to move up the line up.

We'd like him to decide he wants to play like Hyman, that's what we'd like him to decide to do. Get to the net, be on the inside all the time, bring it every single night. If he can do that, he can play a big part.

The message was - there's only room for two skill guys on each line and we've got enough of those.

Dude is ****ing insane. If this is his approach, how high could the ceiling for the team really be? Dropping plugs on each of the top three lines kind of limits their upside, no?

Thinking this team might be best off going on some sort of losing skid. It helped last year when they called up kappy and dermott and suddenly improved. Think that's when they dropped komarov down the lineup too.

A substantial losing streak may be the only thing that gets babs' head out of his ass.

They are pretty undeserving of their record right now as it is. His decisions are being rewarded and long-term, that's not a good thing.

slumps are when he demotes willy and mitch to the 4th line.

That is true too. It's amazing how a bunch of internet message board posters are infinitely smarter than a once successful NHL coach. That is scary. And this doesn't even get to the moronic GM's out there.
