I don’t feel a lot of sympathy for him.
He chose a comfortable life of anonymity with a sunbelt team that hasn’t really been a strong contender for a bunch of years now, and turned down previous chances to go Cup chasing while he was still a good player capable of making an impact.
I get how LOF feels at least, even if I don’t entirely agree. I had hoped that the days of the Leafs failing in ways so novel and spectacular that they become an international punch line were over. So I can’t pretend I’m taking any enjoyment out of Ayers’ story.
That’s not his fault though, and...
Since a couple of other Provincial courts have ruled the opposite way, and the matter’s currently before the Supreme Court, this won’t really change anything.
Though once the Supreme Court most likely overturns this decision, Jason Kenney will at least have more fuel for the rage & grievance...
Of course he’s not.
But when I’m 100% sure we’re not bringing him back and I have zero confidence in this team to either make the playoffs this year or get anywhere if we do, keeping him seems like a waste.
I’ll be pretty disappointed if true.
Not because I hate Barrie or anything, but because it’s obvious he’s not a great fit, it’s obvious the Leafs aren’t going to re-sign him, and I don’t think it’s worth “spending” the assets we could get for him on a team that I don’t think is going anywhere...
Five more years at $7.5M for Parise, versus three more years at $5.5M for Ladd.
Unless there’s salary retained and Lou’s confident he’ll be able to get Parise to do an LTIR retirement in the near future, that seems like an insane deal.
All due respect Habsy, but **** off with the Price shit.
There is no universe where the Habs get value for him in a trade, or where the Leafs will have any interest in acquiring him and that albatross contract.
Thanks! It’s a pretty great spot. I was a little worried the ski conditions would be crap since it’s so warm here, but it’s not bad at all up on the mountain. And it’s a pretty lively little town.
Hopefully they’ll have it under control by the time your vacation rolls around.
I don’t really see anyone on that roster likely to be available that I’d want as immediate help.
They also don’t have a first or second round pick this year, and can’t trade their 2021 first rounder because it’s tied up as a conditional pick in another trade.
He wasn’t great in the Q after being drafted, he was pretty “meh” in his three years as a Marlie, and I’m not even sure he’s been a replacement-level player at the NHL level.
Not really sure what the attraction with this guy is.
