2nd Rnd '25 Playoffs: Leafs vs Panthers - Flo-Rida them onto the ECF - LFG!

Tonight is huge. Getting a split in Florida is the difference between a commanding lead in the series and a best of 3. They make their lives much harder if they can’t take one of them.
In some ways you think Florida is desperate and will play much better BUT..they look really exhausted and they might not have it in them. Expect some real cheap shit tonight from them.

Yeah, avoiding a scenario where they have to win a best-of-3 against the defending champs would be pretty huge.

The Leafs have given themselves the opportunity to put the Panthers on the ropes, and hopefully they’ll take it.

Every game is huge but the 2-0 cushion finally gives us some leeway. You gotta think that if the panthers are gonna win any game it would be tonight's.

I think to win this on we'll really need a big one from Woll.

What would make me really happy, win or lose, is if our top PP unit gave us some goals again.

The panthers are playing really aggressive on the kill so we need to see them either slow down the entries and absorb some contact along the walls on entry, or dump and chase.

Actually thought we've been able to get set up, but clearly overpassing. There were a lot of frustrating plays but the two that stood out most were mitch passing out from a clear shooting position the inner slot with the goalie moving to matthews outside the dot and Willy not shooting or taking it inside with a clear path and traffic and taking it behind the net instead.

they had one good pp in game 2. They need to open up space and their entries aren’t doing that. All they’re able to do is pass around the perimeter (except for that one where Marner kaberle’d and then Willy absolutely needed to shoot and jot round the net)

seemed like everyone was trying to feed matty and ignoring their own opportunites

The PP has had plenty of zone possession.

Passing around the perimeter is a choice. There's always traffic in front with Knies there and they could shoot instead. Like the 2nd unit did.

The Panthers make it tough though. Most PKs, allow the space at the blue line, but the Panthers are very aggressive and force a lot of turnovers there which obviously kills time.

That PP2 goal stretched them out withe the dump in which allowed the point shot.

I'd like to see them get the puck down low more and work from there to create opportunities in front. the forever perimeter passing is frustrating
especially cause Florida is so aggressive pressuring us on the points and by the blue line. set-up odd man situations down low and take advantage

The one thing i am not worried about in the least with this team, is Berube. He has won me the fuck over.
Keefe was such a whiny twat. Berube is a 'not going to take shit from anyone' coach.
I think the guys are following his demeanor.. I think Keefe let them off the hook with tons of shit. I think there is an extremely elevated level of respect for the coach, and his system now, that they didn't have with Keefe.

I don't think Keefe let anyone "off the hook". he was pretty uptight about publicly holding guys accountable (especially Willy) and that was part of the problem with him in Toronto. No chill.

The general expectation when Berube was hired was that he was going to come in and be some fire and brimstone tough guy and "straighten out" the team. Sounds like he's done the opposite. Came in and treated everyone like grown men and professionals.

Berube has basically been what we were hoping we were getting with Babcock, but minus the weird, perverted psychopathy.
