Just wanted to remind people what the Jordan era looked like

I attended as I have said, a game in Milwaukee, front row, to view Air Jordan, sitting beside Paul Molitor and Teddy Higuera. I saw no evidence of this, although, this obviously existed as evidenced by what you have shown.

But the players back then were compared to today's players, godawful. Lumbering and unathletic.

Sure Jordan was insanely good, but there are players now, that dwarf him in terms of overall ability. One playing for the Raps right now, is a much better player than Jordan was.

Players are all good now. Back then, 3/5's of the players on the court were hilariously bad.

Kawhi was insane today, hoping they find a way to keep this guy.

Would be amazing to keep him and surround home with a little more. It would be great to watch for years.

After his riproaring start, seems like our friend Demar has crashed right back down to his usual barely positive level:

    C Gasol .169ws48, 2.6bpm, 0.8rpm --- Poeltl .178ws48, 3.2bpm, 0.9rpm
    PF LMA: .157ws48, 1.3bpm, 0.0rpm -- Bertrans .144ws48, 2.8bpm, 2.5rpm
    SF Gay: .128ws48, 2.0bpm, 2.6rpm ---- Belli .085ws48, -1.0bpm, -0.6rpm
    SG DD: .106ws48, 0.9bpm, 1.6rpm ---- Forbes .071ws48, -0.6bpm, -0.1rpm
    PG White: .088ws48, 0.4bpm, 0.6rpm -- Mills .087ws48, 0.1bpm, 0.4rpm

if Murray were healthy, Demar would be the worst starter on the team.

Nice to see Poeltl still doing well in his role, at least.

In honour of tonight's game, a midseason Raps-Celts comparison update:

    Stars

    Kawhi (27): 34.9mpg, 30.3usg%, 61.1ts%, 15.2ast%, 27.2per, .238ws48, 5.6bpm, 2.9rpm
    Irving (26): 32.1mpg, 29.3usg%, 59.2ts%, 34.3ast%, 24.5per, .206ws48, 6.9bpm, 5.8rpm

    Lowry (32): 34.1mpg, 19.3usg%, 56.0ts%, 38.4ast%, 17.6per, .150ws48, 2.8bpm, 5.1rpm
    Horford (32): 27.8mpg, 18.1usg%, 57.0ts%, 20.4ast%, 17.7per, .154ws48, 3.8bpm, 2.1rpm

    Siakam (24): 30.9mpg, 19.1usg%, 64.2ts%, 13.2ast%, 18.7per, .175ws48, 3.8bpm, 3.4rpm
    Hayward (28): 26.4mpg, 19.0usg%, 53.3ts%, 19.0ast%, 14.5per, .116ws48, 0.5bpm, 0.5rpm

Kyrie is having the best year of his career, but the Raps still take this group handily, as Hayward is a shadow of himself so far (and was probably overrated in the first place), while Siakam has emerged as a legit impact player.

    Complementary Starters

    Ibaka (29): 28.4mpg, 23.3usg%, 59.1ts%, 8.0ast%, 18.5per, .132ws48, 0.9bpm, 0.3rpm
    Tatum (20): 31.1mpg, 22.8usg%, 55.7ts%, 8.6ast%, 16.1per, .119ws48, -0.1bpm, 0.7rpm

    Green (31): 29.6mpg, 13.5usg%, 58.6ts%, 5.7ast%, 11.0per, .093ws48, 2.0bpm, 3.2rpm
    Smart (24): 26.4mpg, 13.9usg%, 55.1ts%, 20.2ast%, 12.9per, .126ws48, 1.9bpm, 3.6rpm

Celts have the age advantage here, but the experience advantage might be more important in the short term. On the court this year, their contributions have been eerily similar.

Key Bench Pieces (i.e. 8-man rotation)

    Jonas (26): 18.8mpg, 26.0usg%, 63.9ts%, 8.4ast%, 25.1per, .229ws48, 1.4bpm, 1.6rpm
    Morris (29): 27.3mpg, 21.3usg%, 63.6ts%, 7.8ast%, 17.3per, .159ws48, 0.6bpm, 1.1rpm

    Fred (24): 26.8mpg, 18.0usg%, 52.9ts%, 22.9ast%, 13.5per, .105ws48, 0.0bpm, 1.2rpm
    Rozier (24): 22.7mpg, 18.4usg%, 48.4ts%, 17.4ast%, 12.4per, .087ws48, -0.5bpm, -0.6rpm

    OG (21): 20.9mpg, 16.2usg%, 52.4ts%, 4.7ast%, 9.9per, .061ws48, -1.6bpm, -2.9rpm
    Brown (22): 26.3mpg, 21.7usg%, 52.5ts%, 8.3ast%, 12.2per, .065ws48, -2.1bpm, -1.6rpm

Morris having a monstrous career year at 29, but even then, the Raps win this group as well, with the advantage in the first two and the two kids both having disastrous years after looking like quality starters last year.

    Deep Depth

    Wright (26): 18.4mpg, 16.7usg%, 52.5ts%, 16.3ast%, 14.5per, .118ws48, 1.1bpm, -2.0rpm
    Baynes (32): 14.2mpg, 16.8usg%, 57.2ts%, 11.6ast%, 15.2per, .162ws48, 0.6bpm, 1.0rpm

    Powell (25): 18.0mpg, 17.2usg%, 57.1ts%, 10.7ast%, 12.0per, .089ws48, -1.1bpm, -0.8rpm
    Theis (26): 15.8mpg, 17.0usg%, 61.2ts%, 10.6ast%, 17.2per, .193ws48, 2.2bpm, 1.3rpm

    Monroe (28): 11.3mpg, 22.3usg%, 49.7ts%, 5.0ast%, 15.1per, .086ws48, -4.8bpm, -2.3rpm
    Williams (21): 8.8mpg, 11.1usg%, 73.6ts%, 3.0ast%, 20.9per, .224ws48, 5.8bpm, -1.6rpm

    Miles (31): 14.2mpg, 18.2usg%, 43.2ts%, 5.3ast%, 5.2per, -.015ws48, -5.4bpm, -4.5rpm
    Ojeleye (24): 11.2mpg, 14.9usg%, 50.7ts%, 4.6ast%, 8.2per, .053ws48, -4.4bpm, -0.5rpm

Celts have actually had the edge here, as the Raps' deep depth has actually been a weakspot. Delon has been ok, powell has been better but still bad, and CJ has been a disaster. Meanwhile Baynes and Theis have been solid contributors as usual, while Williams has been intriguing when he plays.

Now to look at the 2-year stats, to get more of a look at "true talent" instead of just half a season of play:

Note: I acually included a 3rd year for Kawhi and Hayward, as last year was a write off for them. I think this is more fair - and note that this helps Hayward way more than it helps Kawhi.

    Stars

    Kawhi (27): 33.0mpg, 30.8usg%, 60.9ts%, 17.7ast%, 27.4per, .252ws48, 7.1bpm, 5.4rpm
    Irving (26): 32.1mpg, 30.3usg%, 60.3ts%, 32.1ast%, 24.8per, .216ws48, 6.5bpm, 3.6rpm

    Lowry (32): 32.6mpg, 20.9usg%, 598.7ts%, 33.3ast%, 18.9per, .180ws48, 4.9bpm, 5.2rpm
    Horford (32): 30.4mpg, 18.3usg%, 57.4ts%, 22.6ast%, 17.6per, .161ws48, 4.0bpm, 3.4rpm

    Siakam (24): 24.3mpg, 17.2usg%, 59.5ts%, 13.4ast%, 16.4per, .152ws48, 2.9bpm, 2.2rpm
    Hayward (28): 31.4mpg, 25.1usg%, 58.1ts%, 18.4ast%, 19.9per, .175ws48, 3.1bpm, 2.2rpm

Solid edge in both top spots for the raps, and Siakam comparing to Hayward real well. Raps' front 3 just looks better.

    Complementary Starters

    Ibaka (29): 27.8mpg, 20.8usg%, 58.1ts%, 5.7ast%, 16.0per, .122ws48, 0.2bpm, 0.6rpm
    Tatum (20): 30.7mpg, 20.6usg%, 57.5ts%, 8.4ast%, 15.6per, .132ws48, 0.6bpm, 2.2rpm

    Green (31): 27.1mpg, 15.3usg%, 53.8ts%, 7.6ast%, 11.2per, .084ws48, 1.5bpm, 1.2rpm
    Smart (24): 28.3mpg, 17.2usg%, 50.4ts%, 22.3ast%, 11.7per, .084ws48, 0.5bpm, 2.1rpm

Again, very similar performances for these two pairings. Celts' pair has the upside but as of now pretty damn even.

    Key Bench Players

    Jonas (26): 21.4mpg, 23.5usg%, 63.1ts%, 7.7ast%, 23.1per, .215ws48, 1.4bpm, 1.2rpm
    Morris (29): 27.0mpg, 22.2usg%, 58.0ts%, 8.0ast%, 15.7per, .130ws48, -0.7bpm, -0.8rpm

    Fred (24): 22.3mpg, 18.7usg%, 54.6ts%, 22.9ast%, 14.9per, .131ws48, 1.2bpm, 2.7rpm
    Rozier (24): 24.7mpg, 19.8usg%, 50.9ts%, 17.5ast%, 14.2per, .116ws48, 1.0bpm, 0.6rpm

    OG (21): 20.3mpg, 13.7usg%, 56.0ts%, 4.9ast%, 9.9per, .085ws48, -0.2bpm, -0.6rpm
    Brown (22): 29.2mpg, 21.5usg%, 54.9ts%, 8.5ast%, 13.2per, .089ws48, -0.8bpm, 0.5rpm

Still a solid edge for the Raps here. Jonas and Fred are just better than Morris and Rozier, while again OG and Brown look similarly bad.

    Deep Depth

    Wright (26): 19.9mpg, 17.0usg%, 55.7ts%, 18.5ast%, 15.8per, .141ws48, 2.2bpm, 0.4rpm
    Theis (26): 15.2mpg, 16.0usg%, 61.4ts%, 9.6ast%, 16.5per, .183ws48, 2.5bpm, 0.7rpm

    Monroe (28): 17.2mpg, 22.4usg%, 57.3ts%, 15.5ast%, 19.8per, .139ws48, 0.8bpm, -1.9rpm
    Baynes (32): 17.4mpg, 16.8usg%, 51.6ts%, 10.0ast%, 12.7per, .110ws48, -1.2bpm, 0.7rpm

    Powell (25): 15.9mpg, 18.4usg%, 51.4ts%, 11.5ast%, 9.5per, .045ws48, -2.3bpm, -3.1rpm
    Ojeleye (24): 14.4mpg, 10.4usg%, 48.5ts%, 2.9ast%, 5.4per, .049ws48, -3.7bpm, -3.5rpm

    Miles (31): 17.5mpg, 21.2usg%, 52.0ts%, 5.8ast%, 11.0per, .072ws48, -1.8bpm, -1.6rpm
    Williams (21): 8.8mpg, 11.1usg%, 73.6ts%, 3.0ast%, 20.9per, .224ws48, 5.8bpm, -1.6rpm

Not much to choose from here.

damn tough loss. Celts played like it was the biggest game of the year.

our bench kinda killed us. could really have used Jonas.

still, we were tied late and they took over.

Need more production from the PG spot. Kyle hasnít been Kyle in a while.

Kyle is in decline , I don’t see a resurgence heading into the playoffs .

We need to find that second game breaking scorer to complement the King

That ten minute stretch where we couldn't hit a shot was the game. Defense wasn't effective either.

this is great. the playoffs are what matter, and if taking a few days off here and there keeps our best players fresh for the playoffs, that is awesome.

plus, a good chance for the rest of the team to get their shit together.

Danny Green I think needs a break. He looks to be much slower lately and actually looks in pain to me while running.
