News Thread for the 2014-15 Season

Rich getting richer. At least they'll have to suffer those God-awful Chevy logo shirts. Jeez but those look cheesy.

I heard some speculation today out of the English press that Conte walked out because the owner was determined to sell off Vidal. They've built their entire team around him, so that would be a major blow.

Adam Lallana was injured in pre-season training, and will miss the start of the Prem season. Crap!

Adam Lallana's hopes of making a flying start to his Liverpool career have suffered a huge blow with a knee injury that will rule him out for six weeks.

The England midfielder, who has been training with Liverpool for just four days after making a £23.6million switch from Southampton, will miss the first three games of the Barclays Premier League campaign — a home clash with his old club and trips to Manchester City and Tottenham.

He is also likely to miss the opening Euro 2016 qualifier away to Switzerland on September 8. Lallana was hurt during a training drill on Thursday and Liverpool’s fears were realised following the results of a scan.

Yikes! Why does this stuff happen so much? Thank goodness he's OK, but at what cost? smdh

Yeah. Welcome to South America. Most players spend so much on security guards for their families that it's almost considered a tax. It's ridiculous, but it's been going on for years and years.

Yeah, the Howard Webb memes were funny, particularly the one with his statue outside of OT next to that of ole whiskey nose (SAF).

Mike Ashley appears determined to regain the momentum in the race for English football's worst owner. With all the idiocy out of Vincent Tan last year, the spotlight had fallen off of him. So, he decides to do this

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley’s decision to scrap free match tickets for staff extends to manager Alan Pardew and his players, Sportsmail understands.

The billionaire angered the club’s coaching staff after withdrawing their complimentary ticket allocation at the weekend.

Ok Mike, we'll all agree: you're at least as bad as Vincent Tan, you worthless, steaming pile of *&^$@*.

Well, Tan got relegated, so I guess Ashley jumped into the void.

The C.A.S. upheld the suspension, but lifted the ban from "all football-related activity" as excessive.

Luis Suarez's four-month biting ban has been upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but he is now clear to train with new club Barcelona.

A full explanation of the ruling will not be published until a later date.

Suarez's lawyers argued world governing body Fifa's decision to suspend him from all "football-related activity" for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup was excessive.

Suarez still suspended; can train with club

Here's a shocker. Tony Pulis has resigned as Crystal Palace manager. He had discussions with club co-chair Steve Parish over the lack of transfer activity and friction over areas of responsibility. They've only signed a few players and spent only £2.4 million, losing out on Steven Caulker, who signed for QPR. Pulis wanted to bring in former Eagle Wilifred Zaha on loan but it must have been vetoed. Assitant manager Keith Millen is taking over.

Uh oh. Palace may now jump to the top (bottom?) of my "likely to be relegated" list. Not quite sure how it came to something like this. How does ownership justify spending less than £3m on two players to improve a squad that clearly needed improving to remain in contention to stay in the Premier League?

There was talk at the end of last season that Tony Pulis and the owner didn't really get on and that he might leave at that point.

Guess whatever promises were made haven't worked out.

100% Malkey McKay gets that gig, the guy he worked with at Cardiff is already at CP.
