Anaheim leads best-of-7 series 2-0

The Anaheim Ducks will go for their seventh consecutive win to start the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs when they play the Calgary Flames in Game 3 of their Western Conference Second Round series.

"It's not easy staying totally focused on one goal all the time -- that being the next game," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "It's up to [the coaches] to implement those things and not let them think, 'Oh we're good. We've won this, we've done that.' Until you beat a team on the road in the playoffs, the series is tied. That's the way I look at it."

Anaheim is the first team to win six or more consecutive games to open the postseason since the Pittsburgh Penguins won seven in a row from April 9-29, 2008 (Elias). The Ducks also won six straight to start the 2003 playoffs.

Since 1990, three other teams have won six or more games to begin the playoffs: New York Rangers, 1994; Detroit Red Wings, 1999; and Dallas Stars, 1999.

The Ducks swept the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, then defeated the Flames 6-1 in Game 1 and 3-0 in Game 2.

Anaheim is 16-4-2 in its past 22 games against Calgary dating to Dec. 10, 2010, and has won 21 straight against the Flames at Honda Center.

But shifting to Scotiabank Saddledome for Games 3 and 4 will present another challenge to the Ducks. The Flames won all three games on home ice against the Vancouver Canucks in the first round.

"We've played well at home, so we are very confident in our game when we come to the Saddledome," Flames defenseman Kris Russell said. "We've got great fans that support us well. At the same time, we've got to come out and be ready to play the right way, earn some goals, and go after them from the start. Playing in front of our fans and the atmosphere we have and the support they give us, provides us with that added boost. At the same time, they are going to be coming with their best effort, so we've got to make sure we are prepared."

After facing the Jets at MTS Centre in the first round, the Ducks are aware of the impact a loud building can have on the home team.

"We're going to go into a lively building that's going to be rocking, much like when we went to Winnipeg," said Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf, who played his junior hockey in the Saddledome with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League. "We've got to execute our game plan and stay calm."
