Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2021-22 Edition

Per LeBrun NYR rebuild is over 1-year after sending the letter out to fans, they will be big spenders this summer on UFAs - notably Panarin & Karlsson should he hit the market

I cant see the Rags spending like drunken sailors again .

They need at least 1-2 more years to see what kids truly develop on their team .

They are too thin and raw right now for anyone to come in and make a difference .

I wouldnt touch EK at all beyond 4 years ..... I dont see him aging well on that beat up body

Dude, it’s New York City. They’ll spend if they can.

They always can but wisely chose not to ..... makes no sense to do so with only a handful of players worth anything on their roster right now .

Building is always packed and their franchise value is always tops .

We will have about the same amount of cap space available as well. Wonder how this all blows over.

Expect #NYR to spend this offseason, they feel they've gotten young enough and now it is time to add, they will go after Artemi Panarin and they will also go after Erik Karlsson IF he goes to UFA July 1 and doesn't re-sign with San Jose

FWIW - Romanov a Habs next season?

Romanov has been a revelation improving his game at an astronomical rate this season in the KHL. What has not been reported is that Bergevin is looking at Romanov as someone who can help his club next year. Romanov has a contract in the KHL, and breaking that is not easy, but when the Habs want something, they get something. The rules are complex in Russia as they do not have an agreement with the NHL like other nations. What must happen is that Romanov has to pay out his contract to get rid of his commitment. Naturally, he wouldn’t have the money to do that so it would be the Habs who have to front that money in order to get their player. It won’t be easy, and there are people who disagree with this assessment but expect Romanov to be in Montreal as soon as next year. Bergevin has said in watching Romanov that he was already of a high enough quality to be a third pair defender in the NHL any day of the week. The Romanov story could be an interesting one this summer.

#Habs #Canadiens

10:28 - 15 mars 2019

According to the Athletic 22 NHL teams were looking at Jimmy last yr.

Habs make sense because has attended Canadiens development camp in the past.

Scouting report last yr:

Schuldt isn’t your prototypical offensive defenseman despite his big point total this season, instead generating chances with his big shot and focusing more on the defensive side of the game. Though no college prospect is completely polished, Schuldt comes with built in leadership ability and poise and should be able to step right into the NHL without much trouble after next season.
