OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

This should be epic. Both Max and Poirier have insane work rates. Will be interesting to see how much more power Max has at LW.

I think we're about to see just how good Max is. His range control is insane, as good or better than prime Mac. I'm wondering if his chin holds up at 155 though. He's a bit too willing to ignore his range control and stand in the pocket and scrap.

Kind of shocked that Poirier didn't put him down in the 1st round. Huge round for Dustin.

Right you are. This might be over quick if he doesn’t adjust. Rooting for Dustin here myself

Poirier might just have too much power for Max. Max was well in control of round 2 until Poirier landed clean once. Might have stolen the round despite 4 minutes of good Max world and control.

If Max wants to stay at 155, he's going to have to spend some time legitimately gaining weight. He's too light here.

Max wins round 3 and Poirier shows weakness for the first time in this fight.

If Max is able to drag him into deep water and drown him, this would be the most ridiculous achievement I've seen in MMA in a long time. This is a huge power mismatch.

Too big, too strong. When Dustin hit Max, it stung him. When Max hit Dustin, he was able to eat it without too much effect.

Hell of a fight. 3-2 Poirier?

I guess you could give 2 to Max if you tried really hard. 1st round could have been a 10-8 for Dustin ffs. Max is a beast, Max is game, but there's just too much difference on the heat the two are throwing.

and MVP got slept in Bellator for the first time last night too.

MVP haters are chirping about the hype train being derailed, etc but that's silly. I get the dislike for MVP, but after beating Daley, it was pretty much confirmed that MVP is pretty high level and not a product of whipping cans. Lima is a legit WW and wouldn't embarrass himself at all in UFC, would probably be a top 7 WW.

yeah MVP got up kinda sloppy and paid for it

MVP lives sloppy and finally ran into someone who could take advantage. He has mostly fought cans, and should have game planned for that hard sweep kick Lima throws (pretty sure he made a guy stop due to injury with it before). MVP was actually well in control up until the sweep kick, and had just stunned Lima 10 seconds before.

Talented fighter, and I get some of the thought process behind the show boating. He's trying to rattle/piss off his opponent and get them to come in wild. But it's a very live by the sword, die by the sword style.
