Sylvain Lefebvre fired

I don't disagree but in this case, you'd be hard press to find anyone has qualified for the job than Ducharmes and Bouchard. Their track records are almost flawless in the last few years.

Ducharme took a once storied franchises in the Q, Drumondville, Fired everyone involved with the team, including the equipment guys, to start fresh with a new mindset and brought that franchise back amoung the elite of the Q.

Bouchard brought a new team right next in Habs territory, where historically, Junior club can't survive, and brought this to a successful franchise and a team that aspires to the memorial cup for a second year.

Both of them worked together to bring back Gold in the junior team championship (even if they were French guys, their team only had 1 or 2 players from the Q).

I'd compare them to Hunter's track record in Ontario (although Hunter has been doing it for far longer so he has obviously the edge).

So while other cancidate would be great, it Ducharmes and Bouchard would be considered by any team as top priorities to hire by any team in the NHL right now.

How would this organization know if Bouchard & Ducharme are the most qualified if those are probably two of the only candidates who are going to be interviewed?

Personally, I'd consider Todd Nelson, Jim Montgomery (who is from Montreal), Sheldon Keefe to be more qualified, but Nelson/Keefe aren't changing for a lateral job unless we can outbid Detroit/Toronto, which is always possible if we wanted one of them enough. Other people I'd have in mind are Tim Hunter from the Moose Jaw Warriors, John Gruden from the Hamilton Bulldogs, Dave Lowry from the LA Kings, all assuming they'd be interested in being head coaches in the AHL.

One of the narratives from the Rejean Tremblays of this world is that one of the reasons the Habs need to hire French coaches is because nobody else will give them opportunities otherwise.

That couldn't be any more factually incorrect if they tried.

Patrick Roy & Guy Boucher were hired as head coaches. Pascal Vincent's being groomed for a head coaching gig, same for Benoit Groulx. Dominique Ducharme is likely going to be coaching somewhere in the AHL next year & Joel Bouchard will be following him in the next few years if he so chooses. If things go right for him, maybe André Tourigny will be getting a head coaching job in the AHL a few years from now. Not to mention Alain Vigneault's probably going to be re-hired somewhere within the next year or so. That's not to mention that Claude Julien was originally hired by Deadmonton to coach the Hamilton Bulldogs back when we shared a farm team with them.

If the coach is good enough, they'll make it eventually, regardless of what language he speaks. The only exception being here, obviously.
I wouldn't say it's completely incorrect. Roy aside, who's an household name and legend who got a job in large part because of his status in Colorado and connections with Sakic, pretty much everyone else has made it to the NHL through the Habs. Boucher is actually the only one who got his first NHL head coach job not with the Habs since what, Jacques Martin? And even then he was groomed by the Habs. Hartley got a gig in Colorado too if you want to count him as well, and not surprisingly the GM was Lacroix. For the amount of duds that get head coaching gigs, I'm not sure they are that far off. Sure they might get AHL gigs but that's about it.

Will Reggie be writing an article analyzing why the Q is the worst prospect feeder league for the NHL amongst the major ones: OHL, NCAA, WHL and has been for a good 15-20 years? Or why the Q coaches as a whole are ill suited for modern day NHL game due to their strategic mindset vs NCAA coaches?

Based on what?

The @NHLCanes asked the @CanadiensMTL the permission to talk to Rick Dudley. Permission granted. It’s not for the gm position. Dudley’s contract is due in June but could still return with the Habs. #tvasports

Don Waddell worked before with Rick Dudley with the Hurricanes. Good connection there.

Looks to me like Jr’s busy blowing up his GMs foxhole...

I assume this potentially means a spot frees up for Joel Bouchard to get an AGM gig - he has been saying he wants a job in management more than coaching...

True. Molson ordering Bergevin to hire his replacement would be an awesome troll job.

Hearing Carolina recently spoke with Bruins exec John Ferguson Jr about their vacant GM job, continue to speak to different people. Canes also spoke with Habs exec Rick Dudley about a different role in their organization but doesn't sound like that will work out at this point.

Per Mikael Lalancette of TVA Sports - Joel Bouchard to take dual role of AHL head coach and GM

So the guy who was running one of the best assembly of d-men on paper in the NHL, one that massively underachieved in both of Gulutzan's seasons there, is going to come here and make one of the worst assembly of defensemen better...

Yeah, count me as skeptical.
