OT: American Politics

dems are just so bad at this game.

The conservatives rant about how socialism has "failed" everywhere, while the dems could just point out the greatest socialist success story in the world - the USA.

Without FDR's socialist policies, the USA never becomes the creator of the legendary middle class which made it the powerhouse and envy of the world.

But they're too scared to even use the word. Or at least they were until recently.

So true. The question is why are they so bad at it. Thomas Frank, I believe, provides much of the answers.

Regular shit you almost never hear about. Hillary's war never ended.

US airstrike kills 11 civilians in southern Libya.

It's always amazes me how little attention our victims receive. Now close your eyes and imagine the national freakout if a warplane of a Muslim majority country killed 11 Americans on US soil.

Meh. They're not curse words, they're identifiers. Then again, that flies in the face of my loathing of identity politics so I need to rethink things concerning this I think.

All politics are identity-based. And part of that politics includes rejecting the validity or legitimacy of an identity group - to deny standing or narrative.

Worse yet, the Republicans steal their thunder. Again, Trump's great appeal was ranting about the rigged system, claiming he'd reindustrialize America, and draining the swamp. Campaigned directly for the working class vote while the dems went on about 'her turn'.

I’m not aware of the Mueller investigation creating Hollywood black lists or getting people banned from ordering at Hop Sing’s. Until I see Adam Schiff set up another HUAC kangaroo court, I’ll consider this exaggeration.

Mueller has been quite focused.

You've both lost it.

Nobody has been questioned because "they met a Russian". They've been questioned because they met someone doing the bidding of Putin during the campaign (you're more than welcome to explain who Veselnitskiya is, and what the meeting was about in your terms of course).

The only people getting their lives ruined were those who had gotten away with significant crimes until they put themselves in the orbit of Trump's political campaign. Manafort's life isn't being ruined because he's a good guy who is being dragnetted because something something the Russians are coming, he's a career scumbag who finally got caught.

The circles in the venn diagram would touch by a **** hair.

I’m perplexed why the hard left gives Putin a pass. A measure of their cynicism, I guess.

He’a a god damn imperialist warmongering pig beyond anyone in the West, FFS.

Yeah, that'd be real likely. Lost it .... yep.

I'm just curious what the preoccupation with Clinton is. She's a ****, I had and have no time for her brand of bullshit. But she's not POTUS, she lost. If a bomb was dropped in Libya today, that's Trump's bomb.

because they don't want to accept the reason why "heroes" like snowden are welcomed by him.

Of course it is. Who lobbied hardest for the destruction of Libya? Who was secretary of state at the time?

Would you call Iraq or Afghanistan Obama's wars? No, they're Bush's wars.

Last time I checked this is an "American Politics" thread, not "World Politics" or "Russian Politics". Stay on topic.

Obama ran on and took steps to end both conflicts, or else he would have owned a fair bit of both tbh. Let's also not confuse the conflicts here. The Bush wars were massive efforts that took years of planning to roll back involvement, to hand over security responsibilities to local forces, etc. Libya is a ****ing bombing campaign that one phone call could end.

The idea that I'm ignoring it is a total lie. I've actually posted a number of reports about the ongoing confrontation with Russia which have been duly ignored.

If you want to talk Putin and Trump and the very real dangers they represent, I'm game.

And it's not weak.

I come here because what interests me about American politics is the state of the Democratic party. Everything I have posted and discussed in this thread revolves around that.
