Rank Your Prospects

Figured it might be interesting to rank our top 10 prospects. My prospects were total trash a year ago so I feel pretty good about what I have now. Still pretty weak overall... although I do really like a few of these guys.

1. Martin Necas
2. Evan Bouchard
3. Kole Lind
4. Joe Veleno
5. Conor Timmins
6. Adam Ruzicka
7. Charlie Lindgren
8. Mason Shaw
9. Cayden Primeau
10. Jordan Bellerive

Great idea, gives people an idea on others trade value too

1) Jack Roslovic
2) Klim Kostin
3) Maxime Comtois
4) Ian Mitchell
5) Joey Anderson
6) Matthieu Joseph
7) Mikhail Vorobyov
8) Warren Foegele
9) Reilly Walsh
10) Ivan Lodnia

Making 5 trades to go for it post dispersal draft will do that to a person

1. Svechnikov
2. Makar
3. Boqvist
4. Fabbro
5. Liljegren
6. Kapanen
7. Zykov
8. Bokk
9. Dellandrea
10. Cholowski

1. Troy Terry
2. Lucas Elvenes
3. Drake Batherson
4. Mason Appleton
5. Alexander Volkov
6. Jonathan Davidsson
7. Daniel Brickley
8. Rudolph Balcers
9. Scott Perunovich
10. Josh Norris

Not bad considering I traded away a bunch of high end kids in the past year.

What are you guys using as your criteria for "prospect"? How many NHL games?

I suppose that's subjective for the purpose of this list. I guess I'd probably say anyone who would qualify as an NHL rookie if they were to play this season.

As for the minor league spots on your team... we use 100 games for skaters and 60 for goalies before they're ineligible.

1) Elias Pettersson
2) Jesperi Kotkaniemi
3) Robert Thomas
4) Owen Tippett
5) Sami Niku
6) Jared McIsaac
7) Joni Ikonen
8) Ilya Sorokin
9) Ryan Poehling
10) Ryan McLeod

Nice list. Ikonen above Poehling is a surprise. In fact I'd probably slide Poehling up to 4th or 5th on that list.

I dunno. Niku has come out of nowhere to become a top D prospect, Tippett is on the cusp of full time NHL, Pettersson, Kotkaniemi and Thomas should clearly be ahead of Poehling IMO. I could see an argument for him being above Ikonen or McIsaac but I think it's close.

1. Oliver Wahlstrom, NYI
2. Gabe Vilardi, LAK

10. Nicolas Roy

I'm not very good at ranking my own players... I think this is my top 10 though.
I don't think Hischier is eligible right, since he played all of last season in the NHL?

1. Casey Mittelstadt
2. Filip Zadina
3. Brady Tkachuk
4. Carter Hart
5. Nicolas Beaudin
6. Kieffer Bellows
7. Michael Rasmussen
8. PO Joseph
9. Martin Kaut
10. Rasmus Sandin

1. Svechnikov
2. Makar
3. Boqvist
4. Fabbro
5. Liljegren
6. Kapanen
7. Zykov
8. Bokk
9. Dellandrea
10. Cholowski

Decided to update my list since I've made a few trades and some on the list are nhl players now.

1. Cale Makar- this kid is tearing up the NCAA. 16 points in 12 games.
2. Kirill Kaprizov- Not gonna see him in the NHL until 2020, but the hype train seems real here.
3. Troy Terry- Had a rough NHL start with 0 pts in 6 games. Went down to the AHL and has been making a joke of it. 16 pts in 12 games.
4. Aleksi Heopniemi- Near a ppg in Liiga as a 19 year old (22pts in 23 games). Could be a good one.
5. Adam Boqvist
6. Dante Fabbro
7. Dominic Bokk
8. Timothy Liljegren
9. Ty Dellandrea
10. Mikhail Vorobyov

This is always fun!

1. Troy Terry - Kinda slight for the NHL, got sent down and is tearing up the AHL. I think he needs to add a little bulk, but I like him a tonne (traded to Fergy)
2. Lucas Elvenes - Slow start in SHL, moved back to natural position and is now playing well. Will be a top sixer on Sweden's WJHC team.
3. Drake Batherson - Tore up the AHL, got called up and now has 5 pts in 7 games (traded to Killersweet)
4. Mason Appleton - Scoring at PPG pace in AHL. No sophomore slump here. (traded to Killersweet)
5. Alexander Volkov - Improved his PPG over last year in AHL. Should see the NHL this year or out of camp next. Very toolsy.
6. Jonathan Davidsson - 9 pts in 12 games in SHL. Going to blow his pace away from last year (traded to Killersweet)
7. Daniel Brickley - Struggled in his first month or so in AHL, seems to be getting better but Ontario (LAK affiliate) is just shit.
8. Rudolph Balcers - Putting up similar numbers to last year, but has tailed off since Batherson got called up. Will see if he rebounds (traded to TJF)
9. Scott Perunovich - Absolutely lighting up the NCAA with 16 pts in 12 games as a defensemen. Had a chance to watch him a couple of times and I think he's going to be real good.
10. Josh Norris - Maybe Ottawa knows what they are doing? Main piece of the Karlsson deal has 8+8 in 13 games.

My new top 10

1. Scott Perunovich - See above.
2. Lucas Elvenes - See above.
3. Josh Norris - See above.
4. Lawrence Pilut - Absolutely wrecking the AHL as rookie defensemen, albeit with SHL experience. Should be in the NHL very soon once Buffalo needs reinforcements.
5. Alexander Volkov - See above.
6. Emil Bemstrom - Leading the SHL in goals as a 19 yr old rookie. Will be on Sweden's WJHC team.
7. Victor Olofsson - 18 pts in 16 games as a AHL rookie. Should be a PP weapon on Buffalo when they need him.
8. Dmitry Zavgorodniy - 33 p in 26 games in his post draft season. Looked really good in QMJHL vs Russia. Outside chance to make their WJHC roster.
9. Kirill Maximov - Pure sniper. Should pot close to 40 this year in the OHL. Might be able to challenge for a spot on Edmonton next year.
10. Daniel Brickley - See above.

Sleeper: Brett Leason. Will be a double overager this entry draft, but with the monster numbers he's putting up on a meh Prince Albert team there is a chance he goes in the top 2 rounds.

Makar is going to be great. I like Kap, Terry and Boqvist a bunch as well. I actually think every player on your list will make the NHL. It's a real good one.
