The REAL Standings

It matters not. Some team would pay through the nose for Weber and they know it.

He’s been hitting people hard and clearing the front of the net which is what I attribute to Price’s better numbers. He can see the puck more when Weber is on the ice. If those surgeries gave Weber a new lease on life then I’d say he’s worth a pretty good return regardless of salary which is actually in line with what other #1 guys will be getting with the salary going up and remember, Weber doesn’t have a NTC or NMC.

If the Habs would take on Zaitsev as part of the deal, I'd happily pay a pretty penny for Weber.

Just like a hypothetical Pietrangelo addition....he'd make our Cup chances skyrocket.

eh, we've been over this a few times. Weber's contract makes him close to a negative asset. and anyways, Bergevin won't deal him to the Leafs; and if he does, it will be for "full value" (I don't see how he could survive the media meltdown any other way...)

I would only want Weber if Montreal is retaining a heap of salary too, and that is also not going to happen.

plus, the little smurfs that could are probably convincing Bergy to stay the course instead of going for the full rebuild.

I still don't get why some people say this. Weber's contract is fine. A bonafide #1 dman for $7.9M is fine.

The length of the contract is irrelevant. He will be retiring after 3 more seasons when his contract drops to $3m... and if for some reason he plays that season, he will definitely be retiring after that season when it drops to $1m.

I'm pretty sure at that point Nashville will trade for him so they can find a way to put him on the LTIR and avoid a massive cap recapture.

Adding Weber for Zaitsev (and nothing else off the active roster) would be massive for the Leafs. Automatically makes them a Cup favourite imo.

Tampa is going to be problems. As talented as us at the top end of the roster, as good in net, their gud pros can actually play hockey and they're way better structured than we are.

I don't think we can attach any blame to Dubas for any trades that were or weren't made while Lou was running the show.

And personally, I still have zero regret that we didn't land McDonagh.
