Does anybody watch this tournament any more? Can't bring myself to care much about it, especially the round robin where teams just destroy each other. And it's literally in North America every year now.

Just feels like a nostalgic money grab.
 
I still follow it to see the prospects I'm interested in watching - may not watch every game, but will make time to watch big match-ups and the semis/medal rounds.
 
I watch it, but mainly in the elimination round.

I also wonder how Sandin's doing thus far for Team Sweden.
 
I watch. It's entertaining hockey.

They need to figure out the lower ranked teams though. 14-0 games infront of 18,000 people cheering the 12th goal is kind of embarassing.

Having teams with shallow, cyclical talent pools qualify a year before the tournament is ridiculous. A bunch of their good 19 year olds turn 20 and they go on to get embarrassed. Change the timing of the lower seed qualifying.
 
yeah kinda makes me embarrassed to be Canadian watching these dummies go nuts over the 14th goal scored on a bunch of kids.
 
I watch the prelims a bit more casually until we play the better teams. They are fun to attend though. Went to a few last time they were in Toronto.
 
It's an okay tournament to watch the later rounds, but I absolutely hate that it's widely used as a place to evaluate prospects. The monstrous over valuing of prospects that perform well in this tournament is incredible. The amount of talking heads who used the WJHC's to justify their belief in Mittelstadt being the better bet in the NHL than Pettersson this summer was nuts, for example.
