The 3rd Round Proper, with the Premier League and Championship clubs, starts today. Woking and Barnet are the only non-league teams to survive.

ESPN has the US TV rights in the first year of a 3 year deal. It looks like all 32 matches will be streamed on ESPN+

We used the 7 day free trial for this weekend. QPR and Leeds were a good watch. Rangers advanced for the first time in 22 years.
 
FWIW, Leeds are good value this season if you just want to watch interesting football. Bielsa ( you know ... former Chile and Bilbao boss) has them playing high pressure stuff and they're turning standard boring games into slugfests on the regular. What he's doing slumming it in the Championship is anybody's guess.
 
Some upsets on the weekend. Gillingham, 19th in League 1, beat Cardiff 1-0. Bristol City, 11th in the Championship, beat Huddersfield 1–0. Oldham Athletic, 10th in League 2, beat Fulham at the Cottage 2-1. Non-league Barnet won at Sheffield United, 3rd in the Championship, 1-0. Newport County, 13th in League 2, beat Leicester.
 
Weirdly enough, while rank and file fans still seem to care enough to get angry about bombing out of the FA Cup early to lower division clubs, the media seems largely blasé about the whole business these days.
 
Liverpool lost Lovren to a potential hamstring problem in the 6th minute today. That could change their transfer plans this month.

I don't see that as a bad thing for Pool. Lovren isn't all that. VVD covers up a lot of his shortcomings.

It’s more the body count than anything else. He’s not all that but he’s the best of a thin lot. If he misses a few weeks, they may need to find some center back help. VVD is their only healthy senior center half, Fabinho replaced Lovren yesterday.

I mean, yeah ... but Matip should be pretty close to coming back. Still, having only senior calibre CBs is a probably a bad idea. They need another for depth. Time to raid the lower half of the table again?

Chelsea and Man United go later today.

As generally happens in the 5th round, the underdogs have largely run out of real estate. Millwall and Swansea are the only non-Prem sides left in the hunt and Newport was the last REAL Cinderella at the ball.
 
Man U takes out Chelsea, 2-0 and Sarri’s seat gets warmer.

Ah. The classic "random" FA Cup draw that gives the smallest team left in the round half a shot with a relatively favorable draw. Weird to see the FA favoring Millwall though, given the history.

Following the Semi draw, the following will be played on April 6
Man City vs Brighton
Watford vs Woverhampton

So, the actual results guaranteed a smaller market finalist this year, so the ping pong balls didn't have to be weighted for once. Nice.
 
It’s Man City v. Watford for the FA Cup. It could be the 3rd leg of City’s chase for a quad. It’s City’s 11th Final, first since 2013. They last won in 2011. Watford has never won and has 1 other Final appearance, in 1984 when they lost to Everton.

Man City beats Watford 6-0 to complete a domestic treble, the 2nd ever (Arsenal ladies did it, as Pep acknowledged). It also spares Man U from having to fight through the Europa League 2nd qualifying round and go to the group stage with Arsenal. Wolves are the 3rd team in the Europa League and enter at he 2nd qualifying round. That doesn’t change if Arsenal win the Europa League, the winner of the Czech Cup get the group stage place.
