yeah, we still control our own destiny but it is more precarious
Our magic number is now down to 27 but only against Columbus. It is still 24 against the Flyers who are charging fast from the back.
The biggest problem (aside from our bad play) we have right now is tiebreakers. We have 34 ROW wins, Hurricanes, and Columbus have 37 and Penguins have 36. That is the first tiebreaker so we lose any tiebreaker against them. It is a little misleading as if we make up the four points on the Whalers, then we likely are within 1 in the ROW but still behind.
At this point, it appears we will have to finish ahead to get in.
Columbus has a tough stretch coming up, 2 against Bruins and Hurricanes this week. They then go out west with likely easy wins in Edmonton and Vancouver.
It is still doable for us but we need to get our heads out of our asses.

Nope. Its sad really. They were comfortably in the playoffs most of the season, but they are aiming to end in the worst possible position.
This after a bunch of guys had career years. When they aren't having career years...

A win in Carolina after playing the day before is a tall order. The last three games are winnable because those teams will be in cruise control going into the playoffs. For example Tampa almost lost to Detroit twice, the Leafs are playing like crap lately. But by then it might be too late.

ummm MTL is likely the betting favorite in 2 or 3 of those games in total.
Losing is the best option now. Philly can pass us for-sure while FLA and Minny might be able to.
Just ****ing tank it now.
