GDT: Canes @ Caps, Game 5 4/20, 8:00 NBC

Hopefully the refs have been instructed to call any and everything in the first 5 minutes. If not, it's going to turn into a slashfest. Blood will be spilled. Again. Guaranteed.

Dang it, Saku... we didn't want an early penalty.

One SOG in the first 5 minutes...let's see if a power play helps.

Annoying when it looks like they have more SOG on the Canes' power play than we do... Hamilton out there instead of Faulk? Good.

Until Wallmark negates the whole thing.

Way to bounce off of Ovi, Faulk... reminds me of LaRose and Chara...

And once again the Washington power play gets the first goal. Or whatever... the power play was over by then, it's still 1-0.

I've seen worse first periods this series... but it doesn't mean I have to like this one. Thankfully it's only 1-0.

Notice how many checks the Canes are not finishing tonight? I’ve watched several Canes just glide away and not even lay the body. They were relentless in that regard in games 3 & 4.

de Haan to the dressing room, Backstom to the penalty box.

...and the Canes once again have the power play that doesn't do anything. (TM)

Mrazek run over, penalty.

...and the Canes once again have the power play that doesn't do anything. (TM)

Canes are disinterested and mailing it in tonight, no juice, no home crowd energy to feed off of, injuries mounting, not good.

They've got no offense tonight. The defense is adequate, the one goal aside, but there's nothing testing Holtby.

And yes, I say that with 9 SOG. They're not good shots.

Although that's the best chance I've seen all game.

Line change, Caps score.

They make it look so (polar's word) easy.

This one's over. Screw it, I'm watching something else.

I won't be able to watch Monday, either... so this better go seven.

And sure... plenty of teams have come back in the third to win, but the guys out there tonight doesn't have it. Feel free to prove me wrong, ya bunch of jerks...

You won't win any playoff games playing lazy, uninspired no-check hockey.

This one's a blowout. And I'm pretty sure the series is over. Canes have given up.
