The Mother****ing Off Season Thread

Average age on the Habs board is easily 10-15 years older. It matters in life.

But this is your thing, mock away.

I think it’s perfectly okay if someone doesn’t care to learn about the salary cap side of things but it seems like the posters that talk about it the most over there actually know the least about it.

And yes, I do think your assertion that the Jets would be trading Laine just for cap relief is dumb. So will do.

With only 15 players under contract and Connor, Laine needing deals.

I never said they were cash strapped, I said if they moved Laine it’ll be to free up cap and get younger and in the context of trading with the Habs.

Apparently I need to write a thesis with footnotes for some people.

Yes, and? Connor and Laine makes 17 and it’s pretty much just cheap depth guys they need after that. They have room.

They’re not gonna move him for Suzuki and a first.

Here's why non Leaf fans love Marner now: Because he's not signed. They want to see him get 12+ per to screw the Leafs. once Toronto signs him, they'll call him overpaid and overrated. THey'd be raving about a max Matthews offersheet if he wasn't signed.

So Willy is changing his number to 88 and he is covering the number switch for jersey owners. Pretty cool:

William Nylander

Making the switch ... what’s old is new again #88

I’ve got you covered Leafs Nation, go to @realsportstoronto to have your jersey recrested on me.

Anyone here still pissed at Willy for holding out last season?

I will have so much pleasure seeing Willy light-it-up this season and those morons with nothing to say who knocked him.

you must be one of those habs fans HL is on about
It'd say a combination of ignorance when it comes to the salary cap, and underestimation of Nylander (which, in fairness, is widespread right now even among Leaf fans).

I mean, forget that the guy put up two 20-goal/60-point seasons in the NHL before he was legally allowed to drink in the United States. He had a bad season last year, ergo he sucks and the $6.9M he's getting paid for the next five years is a massive overpay that Dubas should be embarrassed by.

I'm really looking forward to Nylander making a lot of people eat their words this coming season.

again, you want a bad contract, I present to you Mr. Kevin Hayes.

Nylander is already a no-doubt choice over that deal. and many more to come I'm sure.

as per my post that you all glazed over a few pages back, according to the stats that (at least dubas and I think) matter, Nylander's relative ELC performance slots in pretty perfectly with his cap hit:
