If the habs were a cap team I would be concerned.
But seeing as any free agent of worth avoids the habs and they have millions in cap space, overpaying for a chiarot or alzner doesn't really do much.
Irrelevant in a year or two. There are a lot of good young D in the pipeline now.
Yeah, Josh Brooke and Cale Fleury should get big roles in Laval and I would think Julsen will start there too.
Romanov should be here next year.
jordan harris is a guy that is turning a lot of heads and Matias Norlinder will be playing with Modo this year so he may make the jumps to the NHL sooner than we think considering he will be playing pro.

Probably a hand shake deal to help their cap now and get rewarded later
I would say it's to accommodate those two old farts in Thornton and Marleau.
Which I find pathetic considering you should be worrying about properly handling the deals of one of your good young forwards and have these two old geezers take 700K to play
