Rebuilding: Where do we go from here?

LOOOOOL

Have you seen his stats? We are paying a team to take him and getting NOTHING back. He has negative trade value and will next year even if he's healthy.

I don’t agree with this mocking.

H4L is right, a healthy Shaw has value. Teams look for grit and guys who park in front of the net when the game changes in the playoffs.

I also don’t understand the constant Byron hate. 20 goal guy on the cheap that we got off waivers.

I think he does need to be moved for at least a second in this year’s draft at the deadline though.

Because he's making 4m and scores 10g, he has negative value. There were rumors a team wanted him last year, but he would have been dumped if that was the case. Grit? That's a myth with him, he doesn't do anything and we overpaid for him. If you trade him, you're getting a bad contract back. Another dead weight contract on the team is Alzner.

Alzner is way way worse than Shaw. Just because you don't like Shaw doesn't mean he has no value. Other GM likes him, the problem is that MB likes him even more.

The rumoured deal was Perrault from Winnipeg

He needs to be healthy and hopefully have a career year to increase value , but that`s Nero`s trade puppet

Bergevin has too big an ego to trade Shaw or Danault as they apparently were players that he secured for Chicago inbetween his main job of fetching coffee for the decision makers.

You aren't taking into consideration that he's been banged up the past two seasons. Apparently he's finally healthy.

Shaw when healthy is an a good two way player that is very reliable. Can mix it up and an idea playoff guy. Definitely has value.

Unfortunately he is on the wrong team right now to be effective . Rebuilding and 2-3 years away from anything and Shaw arent a fit .

Because there’s a cap floor and paying customers. Otherwise people should save a bunch and just go watch juniors.

cap floor?

The thing the habs are 12 million dollars away from? Not sure that's a huge concern...

Sure we have a cap floor . Sign an Alzner type in August to 1x 3 mil . Don’t hand him a 5 year term and have an albatross on your hands for 5 years.

What we should do and started with Winnipeg is this. Go find 3 more teams looking to unload salary with players having 1-2 years left .

Acquire multiple picks/prospects to add to our inventory.

By the time we are competing these guys are off the books .

Now your at the floor with short term deals .

You don’t give Shaw 6 years at dumb money. He should be developed in your minor league system on the cheap for 3 years . Then when he wants big money you deal him .
