2020 NHL Entry Draft

This season's draft is looking absolutely stacked at the top-end, it's ridiculously good.

Alexis Lafrenière & Quinton Byfield are going to be fighting for the #1 spot all year. As we stand, both are leading their leagues in scoring respectively.

Other possible top-10 picks:

Yarsolav Askarov - Best goalie prospect since Carey Price, possibly even better than him.
Lucas Raymond - Skilled tenacious, annoying as hell to play against as he always seems to know where the puck is.
Cole Perfetti - Currently 3rd leading scorer in the OHL, small but super talented. A little like Mitch Marner.
Dylan Holloway - Cole Caufield teammate. Missed last year's draft by a week. Would have easily been in consideration for a top-10 pick if he was eligible.

It's a strong year for the Q and the OHL. If you have the chance to go watch some games, especially for the Rimouski Oceanic, you'll get your money's worth. The Saint John Seadogs is a fun team as well. Jérémie Poirier is on my wishlist for next summer's draft.

anybody in the WHL worth checking out?

Not a fan of the WHL this year. Who knows, maybe some players will stand out of the pack as the year progresses, but not much right now.

Connor Zary might end up being something, but who knows. Braden Schneider is probably the highest ranked WHLer, but nothing about him stands out. Both are lates too.

If you go to games, look up the 17 year olds on both teams ahead of time & try to watch them. See if any of them stand out in any way.

This may be in fact the year to hit rock bottom as early as possible so that dumb dumb can maybe try and manufacture another 1st or 2nd round pick through trade.

The longer we stay in the playoff picture the less likely MB becomes a seller.

We will acquire Clutterbuck to put us over the top

Anaheim did the right thing, kinda: They acquired Erik Gudbranson in a move to "solidify" their defense.

In truth, it's unintentional tanking.

McGuire is so high on this draft, he thinks there will be plenty of character players available after the 2nd round who will play in the NHL for a long time. Thinks this will a defining draft future championship teams will point to.

The Charlatan's been on the record (for the little that's worth) that if he does trade at the draft, it's to trade back & accumulate picks.

Accumulating picks is possible too... nothing is etched in stone. Strategy changes from yr to yr. Depends where you find max value. If the Hawks continue to suck, it’ll be a nice asset.

Accumulating picks. That was quite a haul we got last time we did that. McCarron, De la Rose, Lehtonnen, Fucale. All in the first two rounds no less.

As sad as it is, it was the best haul we had in term of quantity since 2007, with 4 guys reaching the NHL.

I still like having more picks than less. :)

Oh yes, I agree. Especially if you aren't very good at picking. A blind monkey spinning a roulette wheel has better odds of hitting the number if he has four spins instead of one.
