2025-26 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

One of life’s unfortunate things. Anytime someone is happy about something, there’s always someone unhappy with you just being happy! 🤣
It's just the hoity toity attitude of how much they HATE the Canes. And feeling the need to interject it into conversations. Same people who can't find a decent restaurant, doctor or school in the Triangle after being here 17 years. Nothing's as good as Buffalo. But they won't dare move back....

Again, bless their silly li'l hearts.

Yeah, the funny part of not being able to find any little neighborhood Italian joints that they had all over the place up in NY is that they don't open their own. Lazy bums. You see folks from India saying the same complaints? No, they opened their restaurants. One of the things that I like about living in Cary is that the wonderful smell of curry that just hangs in the air on them hot, muggy summer nights whenever you are near a restaurant.

Has anyone that is going on the Finland trip gotten any correspondence or update from Victory Travel? We received acknowledgment of our deposit, an email asking for our passport information by May 1, a 2nd payment reminder and an acknowledgment that the 2nd payment was received. No acknowledgment that they received our passport information or if it was what they needed, no response to emails or phone calls, nothing. We’re going on the shorter trip if that matters.
Seems like things are happening now, I'm sure you have seen the emails.

One thing that they haven't mentioned yet....if you are taking their standard package flights (Depart Nov 8 RDU to Paris to Helsinki arrive on Nov 9), that flight sequence is no longer a valid option as the Air France RDU to Paris part of that flight sequence was cancelled. I only know this because we booked our own flights and had that same flight sequence as the package did and received a cancellation notification from Air France. We just finished up rebooking our flights TO Helsinki earlier this morning.

Victory Travel will handle those flight changes if you are taking the standard package flights of course. I don't know if they let anyone who is taking the standard flights know about that change yet and if they have worked out what the new flight sequence will be for the package. It was a bummer because we now have to make 2 connections on the way to Helsinki. Maybe Victory will work out a better option.

The Triangle Business Journal just reported that Saturday night’s Game 3 Watch Party at the Lenovo Center is sold out.
And I believe those tickets are non transferrable and are not managed like regular purchases from the Ticketmaster app...had some friends try and transfer some extras to some other youth hockey families and that was a no go. Great deal for the Kids In The Community foundation to sell that watch party out since they reap the proceeds!!!

How many tickets were available for the watch party? Did they say? Just curious what a sellout is...is it just in the arena or are they doing an outdoor screen for the watch party on the road?

You're better off not going through the Paris - Charles De Gaulle airport if you can help it. It kinda sucks. I've been through there a few times and leaving was always the best part. Not going back if I can help it.

I hate to hear that your travel plans got jacked around. Luckily, there's plenty of time to get in on a new route. That trip should be a blast. All the Finns we have met in our travels were really fun, happy people. I can't imagine how great the hockey will be there. Have a blast.

I read somewhere that the report on Miller was based on an erroneous statement from Ferraro. He and Walker each played more than half of the 1st OT and the same 3 shifts in the 2nd OT.

They’re also supposed to practice today, so we’ll know more later.

Oh, Ferraro 100% said at some point that Miller had missed shifts when he in fact had not. He DID get treatment from the trainers though, so hey … at least he did get banged up at some point. The broadcast also got confused several times after special teams shifts when the pairings and lines weren’t normal … and Carolina putting the lines in the blender in the 3rd was just too much for them to handle, because they kind of ignored that for some reason. It wasn’t just Carolina, because Hanifin’s whole deal seemed to befuddle them. He went to the room and missed a few shifts, but they acted like he was going to sit on the bench for moral support the whole rest of the game. When he started taking a regular shift in the 3rd and all the way through the OTs, nobody said boo. Part of the problem with Ferraro is that they’re too cheap to have three people covering the game, so he’s trying to do color from between the benches and it’s clunky and weird. At one point McDonough seemed to feel the need to throw his production staff under the bus because he straight up said on air that he couldn’t hear Ferraro.

People think I’m too hard on ESPN’s broadcasts but that’s all just amateur hour stuff.

Everyone except Andersen is on the ice for practice. So that’s a good indication that Carrier is playing. Also an indication that Andersen is starting.

First line Martinook is still a thing.

Svech-Aho-Martinook
Hall-Stankoven-Blake
Ehlers-Staal-Jarvis
Carrier-Jankowski-Robinson
Deslauriers

Slavin-Chatfield
Miller-Walker
Ghost-Nikishin
Reilly-Kotkaniemi

Bussi
Kochetkov

Andersen starting really could make Brindy look bad, especially if Freddy gives up a couple early goals or 4 on 9 shots again. Literally everyone so far has said it should be Bussi.

Well, it’s not what I’d do … but whatever. Sitting here acting like anybody knows how these games are gonna play out after watching the last three games is beyond me. I’m not doing it.
