Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

1 this offseason and then possibly the other next offseason.

Are either of Hildeby or Ahkty waiver exempt next season?

In an Ideal world Stolarz has good value to a team desperate for goaltending (Edmonton?).

You try to get Woll a #1 workload and split the other 30 games evenly between the 2 young guys, the 2 young guys get AHL work as well.

They both are.

Hildy is exempt for one more season, or until he plays 34 more NHL games.

Akhtyamov is exempt for two more seasons, or until he plays 57 more NHL games.

So ideally, if Akhtyamov continues to play well and hangs on to the Marlies net for the remainder of their playoff run, I'd like to see him split the Leaf net with whichever one of Woll/Stolarz we keep, then Hildeby gets a starter's workload with the Marlies.

You trade whichever of the two you can get the most for.
No way. You trade whichever of the two you expect to be injured more, and that happens to be the older guy who is signed for longer. I think Woll is the better goalie anyway, putting all the other issues aside. And the one that stays needs to actually play and be good.

Except neither are durable at all so that's unknowable, and Stolarz has been the better goalie of the two.

Getting off of Stolarz' extension would be fine, but it's only 3.75 million and the cap is going to be almost 120 million by 2027-28. Would I rather have Stolarz locked in for a few extra years, or run the risk of having to pay Woll 5-6 million for being slightly above average?

There's up and downs to choosing to stay with either guy, so let the market decide for you. They're no more likely to be right than you are, goalies are weird and both of our goalies are weirder than most.

I already proposed a few different Edmonton deals centered on Stolarz, and triggered Jonas’ heart condition in the process.

I do think that if they finally came to the conclusion that they must get a real goalie, we could fleece them with glassman stolie.
