Les Habitants Prospects Thread

Unless I'm mistaken, the posts earlier suggested trading Gio and DD this summer.

I don't see anyone in Hamilton ready to take over this year. Maybe Kristo in January or something... but not in September.

Not by me. I don't think I've ever seen a guy sign a 4-year deal and getting traded immediately on the first year of his deal. Plus, DD fills a local player role.

As far as Gio goes, not sure if a team is going to want to fork $5M for an aging vet with diminishing skills, in a year where the cap is taking a hit.

No surprise

We've had several posts about his lazy ass last year. Unfortunately, players like Avtsin feed into the stereotype of the unmotivated Russian player who won't give max. effort.

I'm surprised they put up with him another year. Probably got an extra lease on account of new management entering the picture.

He's been lazy under 3 different AHL coaching staffs, and 2 different GMs. It seemed he was never motivated in the AHL. His own fault IMO.

Asked Chris Peters about Kristo's role with Team USA. First answer is to "do you know who Kristo will play with?"

chrismpeters:
• I don't. That stuff usually gets sorted out as the tournament rolls on. They'll throw stuff together and see what they have.
• Wouldn't be surprised to see him earn some top-six time as the tournament wears on. Forward group is light.

Trade them for a serviceable player in return. Bigger less skill. That's who replaces them.

From the above translated article, Nygren's nickname, is rather unusual:

"Nygga" still has not made a decision whether to stay another season in VPK, which loaned the Montreal or go over directly.

- I have time on my way to the 15th of June and will reflect in tranquility. Then I hear when I go there the way they think, too.

Right now the "Nygga" on vacation to London where he is celebrating his father's 60th birthday.

Montreal was forced to offer a contract now to avoid losing the rights

I'm guessing he'll start with Bulldogs -- needs some NA D training

As per the article, it's not necessarily an indication that he starts with the Dogs next year:

But this does not mean that "Nygga" playing for Montreal already this winter.

However, given that Beaulieu and Pateryn are immediate competition for call-ups, it would make more sense for him to be here. Another year in Europe and he may lose out on an opportunity to grab a roster spot that may open up with the Habs later next year.
