OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

JPA is playing his way off the team.

They need to call up Thole and start platooning him with JPA until he wakes up.

No way. That might ruin JPA's bid to become the first player in history with 10 walks and 200 K's. He made great strides tonight with 3 K's.

Welcome to my world...in 2011.

Meh, I don't believe we had enough data to make a final decision in 2011. Everyone had an opinion, but that doesn't mean they "knew" anything definitive.

Don't forget, a lot of people wanted to run Edwin out of town at one point, same with Lind, etc.

Now though, if really hurts that we traded Travis D'Arnaud away. (Really, it hurt at the time, but it made sense to give JP another year).

We had lots of minor league data. One look at his minor league record and you knew that he wasn't the type to draw a lot of walks. Then watching his approach at the MLB level told you all that I think we needed to know about his ability to develop a high OBP approach in the MLB.

Edwin continuously put up 780-800 OPS seasons though...wanting to run him out of town was silly. As for Lind, nice to see him contributing this year, but the guy has been a complete void for the 3 years previous...even with this year happening as it has, people who wanted him run out of town were right. There's no way we should have waited 3 years to replace someone in a premium offensive position, that was putting up .730 OPS type numbers.

I was against the Dickey trade before it happened and was pilloried for my stance...with that said. JPA is at the point where any reasonable MLB replacement with a decent stick and legitimate defensive and game calling ability, is an upgrade.

I disagree. That fool would of been rotting away on the IR like he is right now with the Mets. Injury prone players frustrate me. His potential > JPA's potential though.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. My point was regarding the possibility of JP being a productive major league starting catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. Nobody suggested they were expecting JP to develop into a "high OBP" player.

It's pretty ****ing close to impossible to be a productive major league starting catcher with poor defence, and a 280 OBP.

His defence seemed to be improving back then, and it seemed possible this dumbass would at least be able to get the OBP over .300.

Anyways, I'm not defending JP. He ****ing sucks.

Good to know because I'm basically Adam Dunn minus the walks and power. When do I sign my contract?
