Mark Appel was drafted 1st overall in 2013, but never made it through injuries and ineffectiveness, retiring in 2018. He tried to come back a couple of years ago, and just got released by the Phillies this week. Wrote an interesting article about his experiences in the game of baseball that's worth a read.
