It still does matter since you have limited challenges. If the catcher makes things close enough that it prevents a batter from challenging, that has value.

I don’t think catcher framing will make much difference to batter challenges. As a hitter you know the zone, you’re not looking at
where/how the pitch is received.

That said framing will still have value until there’s a full robot strike zone.
 
Yup, framing does still matter because of the limit on challenges. With new stolen base rules, strong arm is more important than it has been in recent years, and the most important factor by far is still the ability to call the game (though pitchers have more control of this aspect these days, than in the past). I don't think C value will change much, though likely a small downgrade.

For now. The system will definitely be expanded and eventually take over ball/strike calling altogether.

Even now though, the bad ball/strike calls most likely to impact the game (men on, close game, etc), so thusly most likely to be reviewed, are the individual pitches that impact defensive WAR for catchers the most. Just having 2 well framed, high leverage pitches called back in a game can have a pretty significant impact on catcher defensive value.
