Johnson might yet survive, but I don’t see it.
You've gotta think that at some point, someone in Britain is going to be like, "guys, since we can't figure out a deal, maybe we shouldn't do this Brexit thing?"

I know British politics are different, obviously, but if this whole mess happened in Canada, Boris + co would be completely wiped out in the election. How they and Brexit still have support, and how people are saying that they want to have an election to get back their majority of brexiteers, just shocks me.

After the final tally, they retained their majority because of couse they did

MOSCOW, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Russia's ruling United Russia party, which supports President Vladimir Putin, has lost one third of its seats in the Moscow city assembly, final polling data cited by Russian news agencies showed on Monday, in an awkward setback for the Kremlin.

However, the party retained its majority in the Moscow assembly following Sunday's nationwide local elections, and its candidates for regional governor appeared to have won in St Petersburg and in 15 other parts of the vast country.

The outcome of the local elections was closely watched in Moscow after the exclusion of many opposition candidates triggered the biggest protests there in nearly a decade.

Public anger over more than five years of falling incomes and an unpopular hike in the pension age also helped fuel the Moscow protests, with the Communist Party benefiting most in Sunday's polls from the discontent.

Putin's spokesman told reporters the Kremlin thought United Russia had done well despite the setback in Moscow.

"The party showed its political leadership," said the spokesman, Dmitry Peskov.

Yeah, when I think about Putin that's the first thing that pops into my head. Lucky, lucky guy the way that critics and opponents commit suicides so often and how crushing defeats at the ballot boxes tend to turn into sweeping victories.

Lucky Vlad.

Stage managed for effect, I’d bet. The opposition seems to do better, but there’s no real change in the status quo. It buys credibility and time for the regime.

Anyone who is a serious political threat to the KGB-oligarchs was or will be arrested or barred from running.

What a disgrace in the UK. Such a shame and a waste of time. They can’t seem to stop shooting themselves in the head.
