That's not what he said, I believe he was just using Pulock having not played a game as an example of their defensive depth.

In the end trading Price is more about not being saddled with that contract than anything.

yes, it's nice to get max value for a player but in this case I think MB still would have made out pretty well if he dealt him this summer

So what is the new timeline for using the cap space? The Habs currently have the 3rd lowest payroll in hockey.

It went from it will be used forsure by:

1) Before the summer is over
2) Before camp starts
3) Before the season starts, to
4) ????

Krusty, BKerr and WeHave? You're the 3 that bashed me about this... so when is it gonna be used?

Window is likely closed for 17-18 to use the whole cap space, unless the Habs take on a hypothetical salary dump and are rewarded with picks.

A trade would either be like for like (so, a wash) or a marquis player with a huge salary for elite youngins and picks. I don't think we have the horse for the latter.

Of course, some of the space could be used up of the Habs pick up super expensive rentals towards the end of the year and have to eat a portion of the cap hit.

Yep if they keep playing like this, then the scenario of taking on an expensive soon to expire contract (maybe expiring after next season, but not much longer than that) ) for draft picks looks good. Of course the Habs would have to give up a token player in return, like maybe Mitchell , Carr or something like that.

Plekanec needs to be gone at deadline. He used to be worth a first, now probably a second and third or fourth. Just get something for him. He's the type of player contenders look for during playoff runs. Not key but support.

You people actually think Price and that contract is movable? Might as well get rid of Weber as well if that is the case

No one is concerned about moving Price.

It's the other pieces like Weber, Pacioretty, Pleks, Petry and Alzner that should be shopped. A rebuild can happen in 2-3 years if they stock pile picks and prospects right now. Price will still be good in 3 years when they are to compete again.

Of course none of this happens until Berg is gone. His career is all in with these guys.

Get rid of berg all you want, its like what Rolex said, there is no appetite for a rebuild among management, thus there will not be one.

Max could probably get us the best return out of any player on the team right now. Pleks probably get nothing all though centers are hard to come by. Weber would be a sideways move at best because i dont think anyone would take that contact. I am not sure what to think of the other guys. Probably not movable. Although the Leafs got rid of people that i felt no one would want and rather quickly at that. We need first round pics, and lots of them.

If you are gonna rebuild 31 has to be part of it , he will keep you slightly above mediocre if he stands on his head and thats not where you want to be .

Max will get you value , no doubt about it . The issue is simply do we have the stones to rid of pretty boy and take more media backlash. Pleks will get you a second at the deadline . Gally can fetch something .

We have moveable pieces if they want to start the cleansing , THAT WONT HAPPEN .
