Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2021-22 Edition

Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

Lebrun had a discussion about this , this morning. He said he doesn't think the Habs will get as much as Duchene got. Said MB wants a young centre in return for Max and hasn't been successful so far.

that type of deal happens better in the summer

duchene was shopped for like 2 years before traded

Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

Pretty sure the pick in the Duchene trade is Top-10 protected, not lottery protected.

Ottawa had better pray for a quick turnaround or some lottery luck then. If they drop and get pick 8-10 and are worse next season that trade is a even bigger **** up

This is why MB needs to be removed. I understand the need a young center, but that will be hard to get and now you're limiting yourself. In a rebuild it's about stock piling.

Just get the high draft picks and best prospects regardless of position. Use the draft to get the center.

I'm not, we just need to find our Ottawa.
Starts with getting NYR, Isles & Preds into a bidding war IMO.

Poile turns 68 in a few weeks, he’s gotta be going all in. Bidding should start with Fiala + Tolvanen + 1st.

Doesn’t address C but goal I would think is talent supersedes position.

I would want an A list prospect as a must to start (Lias Anderson, Robert Thomas, Gabe Vilardi etc...) the rest of the package can be worked out

You forgot to add the part where Ottawa got fleeced and overpaid.

Ottawa got fleeced in the Alex Burrows trade last year...at least Duchene will contribute

Dont trade with poile

meh

gaustad

Long tine ago. He's been very solid in the last few years.

MB walks into a trade with poile today expecting Fiala + Tolvanen + 1st for max and walks away with hartnell, gaudreau and a 2nd.

Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

agreed

which makes me wonder

do we hold out with MB until he turns into modern day poile? :)

Poile should have been fired a few time over now, hamhuis walking, suter walking, the weber RFA contract fiasco, Derek Roy signing, gaustad trade, two year rebuild after the suter walking, and finally somewhere in the last few years turned into a really good GM.

I'm not sure the Habs can afford to wait for that to happen.

habs can probably afford it more than the preds...in terms of dollars

but im seeing MB get worse at the job and not better

Elliotte Friedman on Marc Bergevin: "I think he's willing to do a lot of things"

Are you scared?

I'd be more willing to be patient with MB if he had shown some growth and an aptitude to learn from his mistakes. But his lack of accountability, toward himself and his employees (hello Lefebvre), and his ego, which prevents him from acknowledging his mistakes and learning from it, tells me that he's not the man for the job.

Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

Screw patience. He's been here 6 years. There is no more learning curve.

And I don't consider a GM a "learn on the job" type of position. Be prepared right off the bat.
