Holiday Hockey TV Schedule (WJC, Spengler, NHL, Pre-Olympic)

It's that time of year again, when everyone gets some time off to enjoy the holiday season with family and friends. Absolutely love sitting back with a large group and watching some World Junior hockey after a big meal and some drinks. This year I've included the Spengler Cup and a Russian tournament (Channel One Cup) as Team Canada continues to finalize it's Olympic Roster for South Korea. The Leafs have a 5 game road-trip followed by the start of a 6 game home stand. As for New Years Eve, no Canada vs. USA (even with the tournament in Buffalo) - so we've got Sweden/Russia to ring in the New Year. I'll continue to update as additional broadcast details are announced.

Cheers everyone, and hope the season is good to you all.

not sure how i feel about the canada/usa wjhc outdoor game

im leaning towards hating it with a passion

would rather a NYE game in a regular rink

but on the other hand it might be a cool event

Didn't read about this - I'm guessing it's better ticket revenue if they can attract more than 20,000 fans to the game. Otherwise, viewership is always good for the classic Canada/USA New Years Eve game.

?

for the winter games?

I don't care about the Olympics. If they want to do it, I don't care, do it in the summer Olympics and then it'll be great.

Don't want anything interrupting the season or potentially getting players injured for nothing.

"However, Russian athletes who can prove that they are clean will be "invited" to compete in Pyeongchang, the International Olympic Committee said on Tuesday"

I guess we'll see how clean the KHL is.

One has to wonder whether all those Russians from KHL would be willing to go only to play under the Olympic banner.

I doubt it'll be left up to the individual players. Have to figure that Vladdy will be the one making that call. And I have a hard time believing that he won't decide to completely boycott the games, and use this to fuel his ongoing "everything is an unjust Western conspiracy against Russia" narrative.
