Takeaways from the game...
The game seemed a little fast for a lot of the players, who seemed to play a safe and try-not-to-make-any-glaring-mistakes type of game.
There were two realt standouts: Charles Hudon & Ryan Johnston.
Charles Hudon was the best player on the ice, he's not far from the NHL. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was on the team to start or even the last player cut.
Scherbak's got really good offensive instincts, but his overall game needs some work. Should be in Hamilton this year. His assist on Bozon's PP goal was awesome.
McCarron looked good when the pace of the game was slow because he was able to keep up and make some plays. His acceleration is terrible. If the pace of the game picked up, he was lagging behind. Plays better as a center than he does a winger. Sometimes wish he'd use his size & weight more. He's the biggest, heaviest guy on the ice and sometimes you'd never know it. Got into a nice fight.
Jeremiah Addison was really good on the PK. Knows how to get in lanes, plays smart, has good attributes to being a good PKer. Didn't notice him 5 on 5. If he ever makes it in the NHL, it'll be his PKing talents that get him there. Needs to find something to make him a good even strength player, though.
Angelo Miceli had a good first game with 3 assists, but he was completely invisible tonight. To his defense, Addison & Studnicka (No idea what he's here for, he's in over his head) were his wingers and neither did anything 5 on 5.
Lernout was solid. Wasn't spectacular, but didn't do too bad.
Ryan Johnston... Now he's interesting. He was very easily the Habs' best d-man in the game... When it came to offense. He was creating chances, pushing the play up, joining the rush, had great vision when he got the puck to some team mates for great opportunities. Defensively, though, a big work in progress.
