Trump isn't being charged for selling his properties for more than their tax assessment value. He's being charged for receiving and ignoring independent appraisals regarding the value of his property when applying for loans. As in, he knew what the appraised value was and directed other people to not use those values when applying for credit, just to get better rates on those loans. That's fraud.

I'm not surprised that "internet sleuths" don't know or don't care about the difference between tax assessment value and independently appraised value though.
