We talk every day about sport flukes, more and more that Weir 2003 Masters win is resembling the 1980 US win over the USSR in hockey.

BTW, as Eldrick isn't in it, all is good.

sure he was never going to be a dominate player but Weir has won 8 times on tour and finished top 10 in 11 majors

Mike Weir finished the 1st round at +1.

Graham DeLaet is +5 after six holes.

was hoping he would make the cut

i am expecting him to win a tourny this year...but first time at the masters he was not likely to do well

I'm pretty sure you had to look that up as no one remembers anything but the big four.

yes

i looked up the exact number of top 10s in the "big four"

i remember he was 3rd in the US open later that year

it wasn't a fluke anymore than o'meara, immelmen, caberra, bubba, etc

you were comparing it to 1980 USA vs USSRthough

it does not come close to resembling that

ouimet winning the US open resembles that...

jack is the best though we can agree
tiger doesnt even come close IMO

18 majors (20 if you cant the US amateur)...which jack did until tiger won it 3 times :p
but here is where it gets way better than tiger
19 2nd place finishes
9 3rd place finishes
73 top 10s (yes i looked up the exact numbers)

tiger...has his 14 majors which is better good
but only 6 2nd places and 4 3rd places
38 top 10s

sure he is still playing...but he is 38 now and hasnt won a major since he was 32

He never won another major, US college based teams had medalled before as well, (silver in Sapporo in 1972)

Weir caught lightning in a bottle
