I can't find the thread where this was discussed in depth, but I have decided to run a proxy on the computer I do most of my downloading (got a small netbook to run US netflix, download torrents, ect).

Which proxy service have others here used before?

Also, I am looking for a mkv to mp4 converter...but am having a hell of a time doing it for mac. Most programs are windows based and other suggestions (like using vlc) haven't worked.

Download the Media Hint extension for your browser for the proxy.

And I use Video Monkey to covernt videos for mac.

I do use mediahint - which is awesome.

The proxy is more for downloads.

Going to try video monkey.

Pretty sure that was all discussed in the "All things useful thread" which is stickied on this board.

Ty Ray.

There was another thread though where a different proxy/vpn was widely used. Trying to find that one specifically.

I use Vuze as my torrent client, but it also has a super easy drag and drop converter on the side panel of the loader.... you can just drop it into the itunes folder and it will ask if you want to convert it to mp4 for ipad, or ipod or phone etc. Just click the itunes one and then it will convert it. Or just throw it into the ps3 folder and it will convert it to avi.

Sometimes mkv files take longer to convert to mp4, but it does it without a problem. All on my imac as well.
