Yes and there should be. Relying on your goalie 90% of the games will not get you far. Which in this case it didn't. We got lucky and faced a weak team in round one.

That thing that annoys me the most is that having Price should be an advantage that allows you to play a more free wheeling style. Let Price make the stops.

I liked the way the Habs played in the first 5 games of this series. That should be the game plan every night.

Yet trying to find a way to score 3 goals a game is a struggle.

Style of play is definitely a valid topic.

But the real issue is a lack of front end talent in the top six and guys who know how to put the puck in the net in a variety of situations

Games 4 and 5 it appeared as though the game plan was "throw everything we can at them... don't let up!!"

Game 6 it was "Okay boys... lets not **** this up. Be patient out there and wait for our chances."
Dany Dube said during french radio that it appeared both teams werent trying to get the first goal but were trying not to give it up.

We did score 6 one game, besides that though... that style of play isn't necessarily going to lead to 3-5 goals a game. However, it's at least going to give us a shot at putting up some offense.

We may have only averaged 2.4 goals a game over the first 5 games, but we generated a ton of chances and hit a ton of posts. You keep that play up every game and you'll give Price enough goal support to win most nights.

This is very important and leads to our style of play. A Coach will build his strategy with the cards he has in his hands. We have the best goaltender in the world and a somewhat good defence VS we are weak on offence. Any sane people will not start to go with a run & gun strategy. Therrien is doing his best with the tools he has. Any coach will build around his team strength, not get them to do something they are not good at.

I think this team needs help up front badly.

We didnt rely on price though... not in yhe playoffs.

We were the better possession team in 5/6 games in each series.

This team didnt play the same system in the regular season as playoffs... and thats where all the... "we didnt score in the playoffs due to therriens system" arguments fail.

This team was plagued by a few things

1) a pp that was too predictable
2) only 1 gamebreaking forward who teams concentrated on stopping.
3) lack of puck luck in games 1 &3

Fix any of those.... and 1-2 are fixable... 3 is not.... and wed still be playing

He was also asked how Montreal can land another talented forward. He had no answer except the draft. Some of you think MB can just shit one out his ass because its his job.
There will be no coach change next year, and we will basically ice the same team with a few minor changes. Thats what is going to happen. Like it or not

I expect one big change to happen (minimum) - MB will poach at least one contract, he has to "show movement" to his boss, who I'm sure (along with the rest of the ownership consortium) was expecting a few more $ these playoffs after the #2 regular season finish.

You might want to see a doctor about that then.

Every team that wins the cup has some sort of luck along the way. Things just have to go the teams way. Ottawa isn't a very good team. We were much better.

Yes, those all are valid points. But Price had to be near perfect in every game for us to win. Only in game 4 was he given more support. that's what I meant. I blame the lack of offense.

You can make trades ect. I understand its a tough job and trades don't just happen. We have in the past attracted some big free agents like Cammi a couple years back.

Absolutely there is a lack of offense.

I blame that on dan lacroix and the pp
As well as
Lack of elite offensive personnel.

New york, washington, anaheim, chicago, tampa all have two forwards who make more than our highest paid guy.

Heck anaheim has 3 and chicago 4.

We lack elite forwards.... (and fine count max as 1 guy cause he should make more than he does)

He may bull a rabbit out of the hat but i doubt it

Habs D corps is way overpaid for the performance they provide - and take Markov out to the shed & put a bullet in him. In addition to cap savings, may make some insurance $.
