OT: American Politics

Clinton could take a steaming dump on the floor and you'd blame Bush. You call me biased? Laughable.

The Obama administration makes the Bush administration look honest. Amazing how gullible people are to the agendas and lies. Nothing about this administration resembles transparency. Clinton is even worse. She doesn't have those dishonesty numbers for nothing.

these types of incidents have happened literally under every administration in relevant memory.

only now is one party digusting enough to turn this kind of tragedy into their only strategy to win the white house.

Habsy talking about people reading liberal talking points is hilarious. Especially after his previous three posts were essentially right wing Tea Party talking points.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

If you want to know about Hillary Clinton's honesty & judgment, ask the family of Ambassador Stevens.

OK, so let’s do that; what does Ambassador Stevens’ family really think about Hillary Clinton’s responsibility in the Benghazi attack? Here are the words of his sister, Dr. Anne Stevens:

Dr. Anne Stevens, the sister of Ambassador Chris Stevens, has served as a family spokesperson since his death. She is the chief of pediatric rheumatology at Seattle Children’s Hospital. We spoke twice in the past three days, including shortly after the House Select Committee report was issued. Dr. Stevens recalled that her brother had been fascinated by the Middle East since childhood, when he dressed up as Lawrence of Arabia, with a towel and a pot atop his head. He served in the Peace Corps, in Morocco, before joining the Foreign Service, and he served twice in Libya before his final posting there, as well as in Damascus, Cairo, Jerusalem, and Riyadh.

Whom do you fault for the lack of security that resulted in the death of your brother, in Benghazi?

It is clear, in hindsight, that the facility was not sufficiently protected by the State Department and the Defense Department. But what was the underlying cause? Perhaps if Congress had provided a budget to increase security for all missions around the world, then some of the requests for more security in Libya would have been granted. Certainly the State Department is underbudgeted.

I do not blame Hillary Clinton or Leon Panetta. They were balancing security efforts at embassies and missions around the world. And their staffs were doing their best to provide what they could with the resources they had. The Benghazi Mission was understaffed. We know that now. But, again, Chris knew that. It wasn’t a secret to him. He decided to take the risk to go there. It is not something they did to him. It is something he took on himself.

What did you learn from the two new reports by House Republicans and Democrats?

It doesn’t look like anything new. They concluded that the U.S. compound in Benghazi was not secure. We knew that.

What did you think of Secretary Clinton’s conduct on Benghazi?

She has taken full responsibility, being head of the State Department, for what occurred. She took measures to respond to the review board’s recommendations. She established programs for a better security system. But it is never going to be perfect. Part of being a diplomat is being out in the community. We all recognize that there’s a risk in serving in a dangerous environment. Chris thought that was very important, and he probably would have done it again. I don’t see any usefulness in continuing to criticize her. It is very unjust.

After years of congressional investigations, do you feel that your brother’s death has been politicized in Washington?

Yes! Definitely politicized. Every report I read that mentions him specifically has a political bent, an accusatory bent. One point that seems to be brought up again and again is the accusation that the attack was a response to the video. I could understand why that conclusion would be made, because it was right after the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Egypt. But, frankly, it doesn’t matter that that was the thinking, that night, about why the attack occurred. It’s irrelevant to bring that up again and again. It is done purely for political reasons.

It would be much more useful for Congress to focus on providing resources for security for all State Department facilities around the world—for increasing personnel, language capabilities, for increasing staff to build relationships, particularly in North Africa and the Middle East. I would love to hear they are drastically increasing the budget.

Only now? It's been four years of deception, lies and cover ups, the administration failed miserably. Over 600 documented attempts to get more security there fell on deaf ears. 600.

The difference here is you pretend to be some politically righteous person that likes to throw out statements of others intentions. You and Axl are probably the most biased people here. At least admit it and move on.

Agree 100%

Posts in this thread are so hilariously biased. Generally unreadable.

yep its my bias that notes that there have been tragedies like this under every admin in relevant memory, and this is the first time its ever been used for poltitical purposes.

its my bias that made the 89th "investigation" find nothing and be unable to make any conclusions or even assessments, even after blocking all democrats on the committee from participating in all interviews and being involved in the final report at all....and then specifically leaked different select portions of the report to different media outlets in the middle of the night to specifically guide media coverage of it at atime when trump's polling is at it's most desperate.

its my bias that notes that this faux scandal was originally an attack on obama prior to the 2012 election, and then magically switched to Hillary after the election.

its my bias that the gop speaker admitted that the last investigation was about tanking Hillary's poll numbers.

all bias.

Glad you admit it.

There was an extraction team waiting for the go ahead while Washington debated whether they should go in with plain clothes or uniform. The team changed clothes four times. All the while these guys went through 13 hours of sheer hell. This is just one point. The sheer incompetence over the handling of the attack, and subsequent lies upon lies about how it wasn't a terrorist attack, made this whole fiasco different than other attacks. Other attacks showed action. Support was dispatched immediately. This ****ing administration sat on it's ****ing hands with indecision while support was within reach.

Spin it any way you want, you've always been an apologist and will never admit Democrat wrong-doing. You present your posts as fact and attempt to brow-beat people into your way of thinking. News flash kid, I don't bend to that. Ever.

You can call me whatever you like. You can throw out Tea Party bullshit. You can claim anything. Like lawyers say you can sue a ham sandwich. To me you're an apologetic progressive that's convinced people that disagree with his views are either stupid or just don't get it. People get it. They just don't want it.

The administration failed the people in Benghazi, miserably. Using your false equivalency of other attacks and excuses of a million reports is a canard. Most of the previous reports didn't even have interviews of eye witnesses. The administration spun the attack in the most intellectually dishonest way possible. They ran on a platform of transparency after the opaque nature of the Bush administration. They are as transparent as mud. The narrative this administration uses when it comes to attacks, especially by radicalized jihadists is insulting.

I will never agree with you, ever. You guys like to post propaganda articles from progressive rags to raise the ire of those that see right through them. You want a response? You got it. Just don't ever think you'll convince people of your bullshit excuses.

Yep. 100%.

I loathe Obama, Clinton, the bullshit of the past 7.5 years, the spins and lies that their programs are working, the bullshit unemployment numbers, growth under 2%, the whole 9 yards and I'm supposed to sit here and be hypocritical that I don't?

I think Clinton is the biggest liar and a fake. She has done zero to prove she can be president. Everything she's done is a failure in my eyes.

I think Trump is a ****ing idiot. While I agree with the notion of stepping back from globalization, his mouth and policies are insulting. He clearly doesn't listen to those smarter than him in policy. He'll be a terrible President as well. Sure maybe I'll pay less taxes... MAYBE. (still not so sure about that with Trump) but at what cost? Seriously.

I stopped voting for who I hated the least in 2004. Do I throw my vote away by voting Libertarian? Some would think so but I don't. More and more people need to use their vote as a dissent as opposed to simply buckling and saying stupid things like a vote for Johnson is a vote for Hillary. No, it's a vote for Johnson. If he gets 15% he's in the debates. Maybe the next guy gets 20%. People need to use their vote in protest, enough with accepting the way Washington is. The corruption is rampant. When you need $2B to become president you end up owing wall-street and other fat cats.

As I said, I'm just glad I can go off to some island tomorrow if I wanted. Once this gets beyond my capability of dealing with it, I'm gone.

Damn. That was as comprehensive a beat-down on this board as I think we've ever witnessed. I don't think zeke will be able to sit down for a month after a pounding that thorough.

At some point you'll realize that there have been countless tragedies where the response could have been handled better, the warning signs could have been heeded better, and the tragedies lessened or avoided.

But there is only one of these tragedies that has been subject to 6 different investigations, all with the exact same conclusions, timed to coincide with one election and then dragged out to influence the next one.

I'll leave you with the words of the GOP's top military lawyer on this House Select Committee, Army Lt. Gen. Dana Chipman - whose assessment was not included in the final report:

“I think you ordered exactly the right forces to move out and to head toward a position where they could reinforce what was occurring in Benghazi or in Tripoli or elsewhere in the region,” Chipman said, according to the letter. “And, sir, I don’t disagree with the actions you took, the recommendations you made, and the decisions you directed.”

“I would posit that from my perspective, having looked at all the materials over the last 18 months, we could not have affected the response to what occurred by 5:15 in the morning on the 12th of September in Benghazi, Libya,” Chipman said. “So let me start with that positing or that stipulation.”

Bullshit. Interviews with people on the ground showed they were ready to roll, no more than 90 minutes out for air support and three hours out for ground support. NOTHING was ordered. The administration failed. Miserably.

I

lmao.

the same unemployment numbers that have been used for all time, are now "bullshit", because they don't say what you want them to say.

and you accuse others of spin and bias.

you are angry because you exist in a bubble of spin, and reality keeps popping that bubble, which is why you want to run away to an island, to keep that bubble safe.

there has been support "no more than 90 minutes out" for pretty much every american serviceman death in relevant memory.

but you know better than the top military man on the select committee.
