Now that the dispersal draft is over, are we able to start the new owner FA component right away?
Regardless, would it be possible to get clarification on a few things:
1) I believe that we have up to 5 picks, is this accurate?
2) Are unprotected players available for the taking?
3) What will be the order for the three new owners?
4) Will the draft be serpentine or fixed?
Thanks
Deckie can correct me on any of the following, but my understanding was:
1. I don't think we fully set a limit, but looking back the only number that was thrown out was 3 each. But as someone who joined last year, the roster limits come up fast, and must be obeyed while drafting as well. So, for example, I think your team already has 55 players on it total, so anyone that you add through this or through your draft picks you will have to cut someone in order to make room for them. And that should includes minors eligible players as well (of note, it looks like dbdeuce has like 5 guys from KB's team who aren't minors eligible anymore). Once the season starts you can start using the IR to replace injured guys, but until then you're limited to the 55.
2. I believe we basically agreed that it was:
-Anyone who was a FA in the league at the end of last year. So obviously anyone who was in the real MLB's draft last year is not eligible, nor any of last year's international amateurs, neither would anyone who's joined from other sources (so Thames, GourrielX2, etc... would not be eligible to be picked either).
-Anyone who one of the other teams is leaving unprotected
-And now, anyone left from TH's roster
3. I would guess it should be a lottery between the teams. I'll leave it to Deckie to finalize that
4. I would also guess that a serpentine draft would make sense for it. Doesn't really make sense to give one of the new owners the 1st and 4th pickings while another just gets 3rd and 6th.
So once Deckie sets things officially, good luck picking over the carcasses of the rest of the league.
