GDT #4 - AUG 7, 8pm, SN - Not like this

The wildest stat from last night was the Leafs only had 3 shots in the final 10.5 minutes of regulation — obviously all of them went in.

Elvis had stopped all 57 shots previous to that (since game 3)
It's amazing how quickly the law of averages can kick in.

Not the last 5 but it was coming.

Leafs are rocking a 5.83 sh% this series. That's nearly half their usual rate. This is one of the issues with a short series -- regressions take a while. Let's hope the gods of regression smile down tonight and Sunday.

Both of their goalies have suffered a hit to the confidence. This sets up well for the Leafs. Mussolini has a tough choice to make.

Losing Werenski was big but evened up the Muzzin loss.

Speaking of, any word on either?

Against a team they're basically even with? Absolutely. They need their pp to win in most cases. That's where their skill shines through in a lot larger of a way than at 5 on 5. It's one if the bigger edges that an ultra skilled team has on their oppositions. I mean they didn't score a single 5 on 5 goal last night

2.4% shooting 5v5

2.4% shooting 5v5

Maybe they should stop shooting into pads and chest protectors.

In a seriousness though, I wonder who Torts will go with for Game 5. My money is he goes back to Korpisalo just to try and get the stink of this game out of the room.

I wonder if the dork gets the hook after mangling the gwg call?

He's ruined a whole lotta leafs calls over the years. Its pretty embarrassing that their flagship guy for their flagship team won't ever be used as the historical record for these kinds of goals. Hell, even the NBC call was way better.

It was unbelievable butchery even for him. You could hear tweedle dum cringing as he made the call.

Yeah, it was like this:

Hughson: "Marner, to Tavares, across to... <pause> Kapanen scores!"
Simpson <quietly>: "Uh, it was Matthews"
