Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

Caps are better on paper still.

But they're absolutely a fraud this year and if they get rattled and start doubting themselves it could all come unravelled quickly.

All the pressure’s on Washington too. They finished 1st overall and their franchise player just set the all-time scoring record. A first round exit would be a huge choke job.

Meanwhile the Habs are playing with house money.

Yeah, they have a real 2nd line and we don’t.

But, honestly, Montembault > Thompson. That’s not necessary a good trade off.

They'd have ti sign Fowler to an NHL contract and I'm not sure they'd be allowed to do that

If a player is on your reserve list (ie a player Montreal drafted and still owns the exclusive rights to), you’d be able to sign them and add them to your playoff roster.

A example of this is the fact you were able to sign Demidov way after the trade deadline and still have him eligible to be in your playoff lineup.

The potential issue is that the Habs signed Fowler to an AHL contract. I guess they can rip that one up??

This Year

Thompson: 43gms, .910sv%, +0.59gsax/60, 130pt pace
Montembault: 62gms, .901sv%, +0.53gsax/60, 91pt pace

Lindgren: 39gms, .894sv%, +0.14gsax/60, 95pt pace
Dobes: 16gms, .909sv%, +0.51gsax/60, 100pt pace

I have no idea if Dobes can keep up anything close to that level but the drop of from Thompson to Lindgren was yuge this year, and there wasn't much dropoff at all from Monty to Dobes.

Though iirc Dobes started super red hot and i don't know if it was a steady decline after that or not.
