The Canes end of season roadie starts in Chicago.

The team called up 4 guys to make the trip down I-90 from nearby Rosemont for tonight. The Canes had a sparsely attended optional skate yesterday and won’t skate this morning, so it will be anyone’s guess on where they slot in. If he plays, Josiah Slavin will be making his Canes debut. Originally drated by Chicago, he played 15 games for them in the 2021-22 season, recording 1 assist. RBA will meet with the media at 6:15 so we’ll find out then.

A season that started with promise has ended in last place again. Chicago will finish last in the Central and is 31st in the league. Tyler Bertuzzi leads with 32 goals, Connor Bedard has 30 and leads with 42 assists. No one else on the team has more than 16 goals or 26 assists. Spencer Knight has carried the load in goal and has decent numbers, he’s at 2.72/.907 in 52 games. He’s backed up by Arvid Soderblom at 3.74/.882 in 25 games, 23 starts. The Blackhawks are DFL in goals per game at 2.55. They’re 25th in goals against. They’re 24th on the PP but the PK is good, 2nd in the league.

FanDuel for TV.

Is it really worth drafting first, multiple times? Edmonton has shown the world how not to do it. Chicago wasn't paying attention.

Chicago finishing last in the division again after how they started the season had to be discouraging. Even so, there’s more to build on than they had this time last year, mostly because they’ve gotten out of goaltender hell and Bedard had a more positive season. I’d think that they’d have to at least have some conversations about moving on from Kyle Davidson. They have 5 picks in the first two rounds. Are they gonna let Davidson determine their future to that extent after how ham-fisted he’s been in the front office? I’m not so sure. On the upside, they’re better off than Vancouver. On the downside, they need to completely rebuild their D Corps and they still don’t have any first line help for Bedard … in year three of his ELC. If it was me, I’d already be interviewing GMs.

SBA scores but it‘s correctly waived off for goaltender interference. But Stanky pots his 20th on the ensuing faceoff, 2-1

Stanky’s goal gives the Canes 6 - 20 goal scorers, tied for the league lead. Staal is 1 goal away.

Remember in 2003-04 when Joe Vaiscek lead the team with 19 goals? A long, long time ago.
