Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

It’s natural that Leafs fans would be upset about Marner being a clinching game hero two rounds in a row, but really it’s not about Marner at all.

We all knew Marner was a good player. It’s just more evidence that Shanny/Dubas/Tre and Keefe/Berube were morons and totally fucked the core four era by riding their coattails and adding no value. I,m sorry but let’s surround 4 elite forwards with shitty players and try not to score is the worst strategy they possibly could have come up with.

Also it’s evidence that everyone saying you have to trade Matthews and Nylander to win are dumb shits.
 
Yet all the people who were wrong and taking this opportunity to prove that it wasn't marner that was the problem, it was Matthews and Nylander! They will never admit how wrong and dumb they were. It is what it is.
 
Marner needs a lot of coddling and “good job little buddy”. He wasn’t going to get that in Toronto. The talent is there under a buttery soft skin.
 
No. He needed to be allowed to blow the d zone to get breakaways and have supporting roster of guys that can score so when he doesn’t they don’t always lose
 
I sometimes think back to that first Caps series when the core 4 playoff era began. And man, that was truly their peak. They played free and fun and skilled hockey until they were told that was actually a bad thing. And every series after that, their creativity was significantly reigned in.

It's too bad, because they were ultra competitive even though they had so much shit and dead weight on that roster. It was their worst roster, but they played the best brand of hockey by far.

Mitch has played the two worst teams in the playoffs including the 29th worst D in Anaheim. This is no Boston, Tampa, Florida or Carey Price.

I wouldn’t be too upset.

I always struggled with cheering for the guy for this reason. His dad has a history of spiralling using Twitter burners. It all started with him dming similar stuff to random fans on his main account. Then he got in hot water for that and started to use burners. But he never tried particularly hard to hide who he was.
