Habs 2026 Offseason Thread

Obviously Tuch would be a great fit, but I don't think we could justify spending over $8m... and he's probably getting $10m.

Along with a C, We need another high skilled winger like HP said. Skill skill skill is what’s going to make us leap forward. Oh yeah and D help.

Newhook simply cannot make high skilled plays with the puck Demi keeps giving him.

Yeah, I think this management group is smart enough to keep pushing for skill. It's easy to think you need more size, but if that size has no skill, I have no interest.

He also was no show in the post
Did nothing vs Habs
Agreed... but I think the sample size of being really good far exceeds a 7-game sample where we don't know if he was even healthy. I mean most of our skill players were no shows in the entire playoffs and even more so in the 3rd round, but I still fully believe in them.

That said, partly due to that series, I'd never want to pay him the $10m+ he's going to get.

We couldn’t score unless the goalie sucked (Buffalo ). Just don’t become the leafs and think you need size to get through the lack of scoring in your top six.

As long as the additional scoring is not 5 foot eight, we will be fine.

Someone has to run the numbers on Nick. He played all 82+6 in the Olympics. And then 19 in the playoffs. It’s 107 games.

Probably an all-time record. No wonder he was beat by the end.

Good on him to get selected to team Canada, but it fucked us in the end

My point was that we have to extend the same grace to some of our playoff underperformers

Meh. What fucked us is no second line center really. You can manage Nick’s minutes better if you have someone else to play that is close to comparable.

Hughes knows what they need. Getting it is a different story.

Caufield and Slaf couldn’t hack the playoff rigors. That is concerning.

You can’t beat a team like Carolina without rolling 4 lines. That’s the message to MSL and KH.
