The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

So I play a lot of street hockey, and it’s a high impact run, lots of hard stops, turn on a dime, etc. I keep having pain in one of my feet the last couple of years. I’ve got to the podiatrist a couple of times, and both times he’s used the red light on the area. I was super skeptical the first time and was like, seriously, you’re telling me this helps? He just rolls it up and down and around the area, and it actually kinda gets really hot and feels like it’s burning you a bit.

But both times it seemed like it really helped almost immediately and the pain almost disappeared within a day. There is definitely something to it. I’d be wise to do it every two weeks or month or so, but it takes time out of the day and also costs like $200 or $250.

When I blew up my rotator cuff, my RMT hit it with cold laser six times in the first week. Still hurt like a modi but had almost full ROM back in a week. Couldn’t use it for shit but it was wild how much it helped the inflammation and repair of the tears.

The cold part of it is making me wonder though because the one I got was only hot I think.

I had a rotator cuff injury during Covid and couldn’t go to physical therapy because they were all shut down and did exercises for like 8 months till it healed up. That’s crazy - you could touch the top of your back after one week??

I did in the supraspinatus, subscapularis, and Teres. That wasn’t the test they gave me. I had to extend arm down my side then sweep it up over head fully. Maybe because of what was involved? My teres kept winging my scapula so I COULD touch my back but it was rotated away from my spine

So what other top 6 guys would be of interest that we could sneak in under the radar.

Patrick Kane I think is at the top of all our lists

Bunting could be interesting. Has played with and played well with Matthews. Brings that pest and being a good teammate approach. Could be an interesting fit.

Im actually intrigued on a 1 yr league min on Laine. However Im not sure we’re in a position for a reclamation project. But if he’s playing for his career and has something to prove, could also be an interesting option.

Adding a top 6 guy without handcuffing us for an in-season/trade deadline move(s) could really round out the roster to start the season.

Axl is correct. After signing all of them we’ll have a new wave of 3rd and 4th liners that will be ready to graduate from the Marlies.
