Around The League - 2025 Playoffs

It depends on age. For the oldies, who remember pre-expansion, it’s the Leafs.

But for people who grew up with the 70s dynasty and in the 80s, it’s Boston. Leafs were irrelevant.

And all that shit with Philly? Pre-game fight, Hextall going after Chelios, etc.
I grew up in the 70's , and still had to deal with Leafs fans idolizing Sittler and Tiger fu*king Williams. Didn't matter if they were the inferior team, you had to listen to the constant adulation non-stop.

If you lived there, I get it but overall, for those of us outside southern Ontario, they weren't.

Many of us cheered on Sittler in his 10 point game in our Paul Morris voice

Toronto goal scored by number 27 Darryl Sittler, assist to number 2 Ian Turnbull and number 21 Borje Salming

Why? I was rooting for them to lose that game, same as every other.

And as Wiseguy1 says, we Habs fans in Southern Ontario in the 70's had to listen to delusional Leafs fans try and convince us that Sittler was better than Lafleur, that Salming was better than Robinson, and that Palmateer was better than Dryden. How do you argue with people that stupid?

That's why it became important for the Habs to drive the lesson home to every Leafs fan, in 78 and 79, by annihilating their shit-ass team in 4 straight both times. And you'd better believe I rubbed their noses in shit for those 2 years, too.

Leafs fans don't learn a goddamn thing when they have success. They can only be tolerated after their team is humiliated, and even then, it's only temporary.

Yet you love the guys at the echo chamber..

Yes we get it, you lived so your blind hatred is understandable.

You don't have to win every point. I heard shit from CannotFan when I was young, I didn't feel a desire to convince them they were wrong.

It's not the same. The Cannots don't have fans unless they're winning. Most of the time I lived there you could walk up to the box office 5 minutes before any Canucks game and get a ticket. Most fairweather fanbase in North America.

Leafs fans were (and are) ALWAYS annoying. In 1984 they finished dead last in the NHL and their fans were still a pain in the ass and the media still sucked their dick.
