The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

I do appreciate that Pelley is making the right noises here. I don't appreciate that he was a corporate pussy who was afraid of his own shadow until it started making him look bad for not making a decision. I mean, I want to believe that Vegas didn't shame him into doing something here, but I wouldn't be shocked if it actually impacted his willingness to make a "bold" move.
Dreger said he was talking extension with Tre during the Olympic break. I don't think this dude has much of a clue. He doesn't know anything about hockey and that was very clear from listening to him today. That doesn't matter if he hires the right guy tho. He seems to put value on the right things. We'll see if it's all talk.

This is honestly all I've been waiting for from the organization/Pelley. Just ask for fucking KPI's to judge everything by. Pelley doesn't need to be a hockey guy, but he does need to understand the KPI's that go into making the team be good, and be aware of what we're doing as an organization to generate those KPI's. If you're going to be a corporate fuckshow of an organization, fine, but be Apple, Meta or Google about it. You think Roboto Zuckerberg would allow his underlings to tell him that the product is bad because of bullshit they had no measure for? Grit, leaderbeantensity, etc?

I guess there is no point in firing Berube, but no potential GM should even have the option of keeping him

Pelley insisting on someone data forward pretty much guarantees that Berube is cooked. Berube would probably just ask to fired, or force them into pushing him out the door if the new data forward front office insisted on him coaching differently. It's just easier to send him on his way and find a coach that aligns with their vision.

Fwiw i don't even think Gorton et all have been particularly good. But just not tripping over your dick is enough to be a playoff team more or less every year and win a round or two on occasion.
Their drafting has been very good. The club is being rebuilt from within.

Kelley said he didn’t see the train coming, Montreal and Buffalo… well he wasn’t paying attention then.

Yeah, those comments mean he's cooked.

I dont get the links to Armstrong though, who kinda feels like he's being pushed out of St Louis gracefully.

Gillis, frankly makes more sense.

The drafting has been fine, yeah. Lane is enough to bump them up a grade or two by himself, but the rest is pretty much all just your high 1sts being good enough.

Eh, I don't think either is a train. 20th and 23rd ranked teams in xG. 1st and 4th in shooting percentage though. Both teams are unsustainable imo.

This train talk is nonsense.

Their GM built a terrible roster for a terrible coach with a terrible system, and whatever train BUF/MON is is offset by Florida being a non factor.

I guess there is no reason to kick glasses in the dick on the way out, but this has nothing to do with sneaky trains

Could that mean that xG is a magic bean advanced stat ?

We are so fucked. That whole presser was just cringe worthy.

Hes a corporate dweeb. But the talk of being data driven is all any of us should care about. The departure of being data driven is why we slowly and then not so slowly went off of the rails over the last 4-5 year.

Can any of these fucks even articulate what the Shanaplan is? If their answer is skill and data...what in the fuck were we just watching the last 3 years?

So I can't find it but apparently Mike Gillis wrote a 35 page presentation/pitch to the Pens to hire him all about modernizing hockey ops though data and sports science. He is definitely getting the job.

The rumour was AA quit because Rogers wanted him to draft a written plan for the team.
