The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

Was funny hearing mirtle and siegal throw a bitch fit over pelleys presser and how dire it sounded. Claimed they'll probably want Armstrong and was highly skeptical of the analytics angle.

Tldr: ME was right about Pelley after all. Congrats ME!

I mean, just statistically we're bound to not fuck this up eventually, right?

Sure, but is there enough time left between now and the heat death of the Universe for the Leafs to finally get around to not fucking things up?

It just made sense that the soulless corporate fuckshow that owns the team needs KPI's to talk to each other about during board meetings. The first guy to stand up and say "I've got a bag of hockey KPI's I will implement" will win the job.

Hockey Prez needs to be a connected hockey guy with GM experience and should be the first hire. He should then be involved in the GM search, and the GM needs to hire his own coach. Anything out of order there would be Leafy.

I think I'm on this train of Gillis as president or head of hockey ops and Sunny mehta as the smart gm.
I'm liking what I'm reading about his travels to other top organizations and he's a creative thinker.
I would be happy with this..no to Armstrong, Lombardi types and I think you can't go wrong with either Debour or Cassidy. I think Auston might prefer Debour who I think frees his offensive players a bit more.

Then let Mehta extract some guys as free agents or trades of Reilly to start.

We could be pretty good again with some smart moves and signings

It's hilarious that they hired (the buffoon) Tre with full confidence and 3 years later they're essentially looking for the anti-Tre.

so they need to hire a President, let alone a GM, but they've already decided what the direction of the team will be. sounds about right, ass backwards and I'm sure will result in the usual level of success.

also..."the Leafs are heavily invested in data, but other teams are far ahead of them" lol

In typical leaf fashion they’ll hire in some dumb order like the coach first, then gm, then Pres.

Get it right man.

Nah that's not ass backwards. being data driven is the industry standard among successful clubs, the C suite recognizing that and insisting on its implementation through out the org is a good thing not a bad thing.

What it is though is a massive indictment of whatever the fuck it was Shanahan was doing over his last 5 or so years here where we had the biggest analytics department in the league but stopped using it.

The upshot here is that the bones already exist. Metcalf has built what we need to be using, the next pres/gm is plug and play. He will have all of the evaluation models he needs to help make personnel decisions without building out or bringing his own systems

Eh, I think you guys are missing the forest for the sake of the trees at the moment. For the first fucking time ever, our C suite "gets it" and is enforcing the type of decision making our organization has basically never had. This is how smart organizations are actually made. Whether they stick the landing or not...dunno, we are the Leafs after all, but if we were to ever become a smart organization, this is what the front end of it looks like.
