The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

We're terrible and the vibes are atrocious. We'll lose out.
This is absolutely their competitive advantage right now. Many of the teams that they're competing against are still playing in competitive games and putting together excellent performances (see Calgary tonight). Leafs, on a good night, get 40% of the xgf share. And that's a world class, one of a kind performance for them.

They can and they will

Looks like the Stars don't have anything to play for either, unfortunately.

They're locked into 2nd place in the Central division and can't move up or down regardless of what happens the rest of the way.

Dallas still has a shot at 2nd place overall. Hopefully they want it badly

Isn't the lottery for spots 1, 2, and 3? Couldn't 3 teams win behind us, even if we are 3rd last and us end up 6th?

Fucked if I know, I don't even try to understand all that shit.

An idea I had about the draft years ago when they started this lottery deal was why not do a reverse order draft of the bottom 10 teams?

10th gets the first pick, 9th gets 2nd, and so on.

I think that would end tanking and give the lowest teams something to play for and provide for much better hockey as the season runs down.

Whaddya all think? Decent idea or am I full of shit?

The implications for picking this year are so huge. It removes any temptation from management to blow it up. They lose 2 unprotected 1sts in a row in the following 2 years if they pick this year. Which is fine, because they can and will and should be good with a new coach and a half decent GM.

Not to mention, if you make the right pick, it adds another pillar piece to an already great core. It's absolutely enormous and it's a crime that they didn't try harder than this to tank. I really want 4th last at this point. Lose out and hope one of Calgary or NYR get 3 points in their last 2 games.

What is all this BS the media is spewing “it’ll be interesting to see how Matthews feel about the future”….. from my outside view he’s never struck me as one of those activist players

Why couldn't this fucking cunt at least do top 7 protected? Fucking anything but top 5. There is no fucking chance that Boston drew a hard line at top 5. That trade was an obvious slam dunk for them.

the odds of finishing in the bottom 10 seemed inconceivable a year ago
