Whatever someone thinks Brady Tkachuk's trade value is, Knies has been his offensive equivalent the last 2 seasons, is 3 years younger and locked in for 4 seasons (instead of 2 for Tkachuk) while being a bit cheaper on the AAV.

It probably did go well. It was probably very friendly and open and a good talk about the team and hockey tactics.
There was nothing that could have been said in that meeting though that would have made Berube the type of coach that would work in the type of organization Chayka intends on building though. That Berube thinks the meeting went well is a credit to Chakya and Mats. It easily could have felt combative or like an execution and it apparently didn't.

Yeah, there’s a reason every team was asking for him at the deadline for a year or two before he made his NHL debut, and why teams were desperately trying to rob him from Treliving this year before he got shown the door.
Almost an impossible type of player to find. So, uhh, let’s just keep him, eh?

Depending on what the 6 pieces were, yeah. He's a nice player, but as long as you care about overall impact and not certain player types, you can definitely generate surplus value with a Knies trade. He probably gets us a legit top 10 defender if he goes out to market.

I only trade him for a positional upgrade to take advantage of his perceived value. An equivalent centre or all purpose #1 defender of a similar age.
