Playoff GDT | ECF | Game #4 | 5/27/26 8PM EST (Canes vs Habs)

We had some awful defensive (system) performances over the year but were able to compensate in other ways. We no longer seem to have any tools to do that.

It’s not just on the defense tho. The offence is just as guilty because they can’t control the biscuit for more than three seconds in the Cane’s zone. Which of course puts pressure on the D to constantly defend. The result is a vicious cycle, a complete team breakdown.

Only Dobes is doing his job— happy
birthday Jakub!

It really is a total breakdown now, for sure. Utter domination.

Funny. I still am not convinced the Canes are that good. Of course we thought the same about the Devils, then they won that Cup in 95.

I get their left d is good with the guy who can't spell Jacob and Andre, but their right side has Chatfield and what, Nikishin/Walker-I admit I watch our team far more. Not sure how we haven't been able to exploit that side like we did in regular season. Their 3rd line is big but their top two lines are not, yet we let them skate around for hours in our zone.

The shot totals are a little misleading as they literally shoot from anywhere. Granted it works because the law of averages are that one will go in sooner or later like the weak shot in ot in game 3.

We exploited them during the season but can't do shit this time.

Even their smallest player, Stankhoven finishes a check (he was a bit of a cunt doing it late to Texier last night), and we haven't tried to draw their puss asses on the first two lines into crap like Tampa and Buffalo fell into with us (or us with them).

Our d have to make them pay for late hits, maybe a stick in groin, oh we tried that already, or slash to ankles etc. We have been too passive this series. We deliberately stood up to Tampa and Buffalo, took none of their shit. We are eating Hurricane shit this series and not dishing it back until too late. I loved Anderson punching the chin last night, just was too little too late.

Yeah, its like they just folded the tent and gave up. Passive is the word alright. Fatigue, I suppose. It seemed to come on rather suddenly though.

The big question going into the playoffs was our defensive system, the boys focus so hard on that they forgot the offensive side
