We had some awful defensive (system) performances over the year but were able to compensate in other ways. We no longer seem to have any tools to do that.

It really is a total breakdown now, for sure. Utter domination. It’s not just on the defense tho. The offence is just as guilty because they can’t control the biscuit for more than three seconds in the Cane’s zone. Which of course puts pressure on the D to constantly defend. The result is a vicious cycle, a complete team breakdown.
Only Dobes is doing his job— happy
birthday Jakub!
I get their left d is good with the guy who can't spell Jacob and Andre, but their right side has Chatfield and what, Nikishin/Walker-I admit I watch our team far more. Not sure how we haven't been able to exploit that side like we did in regular season. Their 3rd line is big but their top two lines are not, yet we let them skate around for hours in our zone.It really is a total breakdown now, for sure. Utter domination.
Funny. I still am not convinced the Canes are that good. Of course we thought the same about the Devils, then they won that Cup in 95.
The big question going into the playoffs was our defensive system, the boys focus so hard on that they forgot the offensive sideWe had some awful defensive (system) performances over the year but were able to compensate in other ways. We no longer seem to have any tools to do that.
Definitely have been thinking this. The big question going into the playoffs was our defensive system, the boys focus so hard on that they forgot the offensive side
