Because it should have been more.Ehlers, Blake, Merilainen were the 3 stars in the building. Dude gives up 5 goals, his first sub .900 save % of the season and gets the 3rd star?
Slim pickins, honestly. Kooch barfed up a goal and a half above expected or else that would have been a 5-1, 6-1 kind of scoreline. Game Score-wise, Debrusk and Pettersson were their only skaters above +1, but only just over. He made a couple of flashy saves, so they threw a bone to Merilainen despite a meh night when he coughed up two goals to freaking D-Lo. It's a Canadian barn so they feel obligated to go traditional and award a star to the home team even when they lose, but you know it's gonna be a long season when you're making that kind of judgement call on the regular.Ehlers, Blake, Merilainen were the 3 stars in the building. The Canes' xG, per Moneypuck, was 4.378, so Merilinen had a negative xGA for the game. I don't think he deserved a star.Because it should have been more.
